with all due respect to papabear, there have been a trillion Melo threads since the Finals and interest in Lebron has reached a fever pitch. Thankfully, Donald Sterling has faded to Bolivian (thank you Mike Tyson) and his girlfriend is back to doing what she does.

The balance of power sits with not just one, not two, not three... but four decisions on where some stars will take their talents. Mreanwhile, Uncle Phil is sitting in his office with everyone on speed dial - stylin' and profilin', dishing and (hopefully) swishing, and even wheeling and dealing Stoudemire and Bargnani in another potential blockbuster of a pre Summer League trade.

Summer League?

You think everyone is crammed into that practice gym in Orlando? Wait until next week. Las Vegas will be jam packed with thousands of hoops fanatics. Two large gyms in the desert, percolating with yutes and fresh faces.

Nah papabear. the sky is not falling... and the inmates are not taking over the asylum. The NBA, led by a stone cold commissioner who not only took the stage, he grabbed the baton for his shift and sprinted past David Stern, displaying instant leadership and focus.

Lebron, Melo, Bosh, Hibbert, Lin, Melo, Granger, Stoudemire, Melo, Bargnani,... and a bunch of other free men could be on the move. That is not a bad thing. It's entertining as hell. It's only basketball baby.

Hit the open man.

Change is good.

Maybe I was a little too strong on my topic and thats why I got my thread closed. Over 40 years has been a long time waiting. I am probably twice the age of most of you on the forum. I hear posters say in about in 5 years we will be contenders and Ive heard it so many times before. I have more years behind me then in front of me. I thought that getting Melo would be the start of a run for the east title. Well it didn't happen. You guys can wait another 15 years. Well I can't. papabear is probably one of the oldest posters on the forum. All I am saying is it would be nice for me to see my Knicks win a championship before my days are over Ive been waiting so long. You guys have plenty of time. Peace.

papabear - the Knicks traded Walt Bellamy and Howard Komives for Dave DeBusschere.

Trades happen. Sometimes magical ones.

Your impatience for a championship could be traded for the simple pleasure of watching a Knicks team average 24 assists and seven guys in double figures.

First things first.

The good news is that we have a President of Basketball operations with a juice card, an Assistant Coach who we drafted in 1980 and a head coach who is a disciple of sharing the rock and clutch shot selection.

We have two new point guards to compliment our Argentinian point elder. Jose Calderon is very good.

We also have (for now) the son of Hardaway, who showed some positive traits on a pickup roster with no floor leader. We have JR Smith, Ellington and Iman Shumoet competing for the other guard spot.

We have the earthy remains of Kenyon Martin to push the two yutes, Jeremy Tyler and A summer league forward to be named later.

Cleanthony Early.

Cole Aldrich could even be good for 10-12 cameo rotation minutes or night behind Sam Dalembert, who adores New York.

And it could all change in a heartbeat of another major transaction.

In July, what's not to like?

So far, the mere presence of the game’s best player on the open market has done wonders for rumors, speculation, fake Twitter accounts and even aviation trackers in the past week. James continues to hold the NBA hostage and the uncertainty has created a level of hysteria that dwarfs any of the actual player movement that has already taken place.

- Michael Lee, Washington Post

Hostage?

Really?

Periodicals like The Washington Post fuel the frenzy. Then turn around and chastise the players for being free men.

What a country.

That kind of thing depresses me- that moment when you realise you're probably going to die before the Knicks win another championship- knowing my luck they'd win the year after I perished! Hopefully though they'll get their **** together in time for us all to enjoy a championship win!

What do you think needs to happen this offseason, Papabear?

Change is good and I will welcome change if Melo picks a team other than Knicks. The longer he drags this out, the more it looks decisionesque, in its own way.

According to Marc Berman, citing a source, Anthony “really wants LeBron to come to New York. That’s his dream right now. Phil is trying to get it done."

anyone forwarding the notion that Melo and Lebron are plotting to takeover New York needs to take a nap.

Sick of sources.

Unless Papabear is third personing himself at the ripe old age of 104, he is not twice my age.

I'm old, and I never refer to myself in the third person. Being schizo/paranoid leaves me with two people to deal with. Talking to myself is more than enough trouble for me.

Given all that, Papabear is an original, and his opening is a UK classic that I enjoy and appreciate.

Pining away for 40 years?
The fun of the game is playing it, not watching it. Watching things should never cause angst. You can always just read things in here if you need to get agitated.
Be thankful you can still remember 40 years ago. The NBA will continue until the world burns up. Relax, look at the blue sky mixed with orange during the sunset, and know Jesus is coming back soon.

Stay thirsty, my friend.

Melo and Lebron. Mr. Jackson is just crazy enough to pull something that deranged off. Dumping Stat on tank-crazy Philly. It is to laugh.

Good Post earl. This off season does kind of remind me of 2010 when we had a lot of big FA and werent sure where they were going. Im very excited the knicks finally have some talented youth that we will see in the summer league like hardaway Larkin and Early.
