He just looks solid - legit.

I like the NBA body and the ability to bang around on both ends in the paint.

His no-dribble - jab-step jump shot from range is very nice and indicates he's got some serious strength in lower half. Not an easy shot to catch-jab a few times and then knock down deep range shots -- it indicates he has worked some on his game.

THX for posting this video. It just reconfirms what I already felt about this kid. He was a steal for the Knicks. I don't know what some people expect we could get at 34 but this was better than I hoped for. For the Knicks to succeed we need to catch some breaks and Phil and the staff did a great job in this draft. Now they need to develop Early from here and really maximize his potential. Overall tho I really like where he's at already.

Kind of. Most of the attention he received was at JUCO. I do remember him telling me he did have D1 interest out of prep school. He attended Mt Zion Academy after Pine Bush due to grades. He was also wildly inconsistent, which worried people. He needed to mature a lot also.

He ONLY went to Div III JUCO Sullivan to stay close to his mother right after his brother died. He did have other offers and options. His recruiting really picked up after a top 100 JUCO camp where he was by far the best player on the floor. After that the offers rolled in. He chose Wichita St over San Diego St, Washington St, Alabama, Pitt...etc solely because of the success with JUCO players. Our staff does a great job developing and molding JUCO players with the right work ethic in the 2 short years. Almost all of them go from being rough around the edges to pro players of some capacity the next year. Obviously Early was no exception. Early was VERY inconsistent his first year. He worked hard though and listened to the coaching staff and really improved in a lot of areas to be a more complete player this past year. He is far from perfect but with his work ethic I have no doubt he will continue to improve by leaps and bounds. He has matured a ton over the past 2 years.

I am not predicting rookie of the year or anything lol. But I do think the Knicks are a perfect fit at this point. I think the triangle will hide some of his weaknesses and focus on his strengths. Granted he has to earn a roster spot, but I have no doubt he will. He will definitely go get you some points when you need them. He can be a good defender if he stays locked in. He was a horrible defender his first year. But that doesn't fly with coach Marshall and he was a decent defender last year. So I think he will be ok (not outstanding) on defense. Also he had to defend a lot of PF's in college and just needed more strength. On the few occasions he played the SF in college he defended a little better because he didn't get pushed around. Just WSU needed his length around the rim at the 4, so that is where they played him mostly.

Read the kid has some Zen in him and while his commitment to his mom is not an on court attribute, it speaks about his heart and humility as person. Maybe not a star but thats not what you get at the 34, you want players.

Only thing that drives me crazy is when these guys go in predraft and plunk down 50-100 grand on bling. Cleanthony is not in for big bucks for a while. My hope for these kids to be set up for a full life during and after basketball!!!

Thank you ! That night was epic. I am alive and well, moved to an ecovillage in Russia. Bought a plot of land and I am in a process of building a house, all for under $ 15,000.

How about this pick !!! First round talent in a draft like this years with a second round salary , I am elated. This is already the best offseason in a decade. Now I only hope that Phil and Melo have really "connected" like its being said, and we are good to go !
