He's the only one that's really came out and said that. All the other stars including his teammate Noah all want to recruit other stars.

It's only since LeBron decision that's teams have been trying to do this. That's not the only way to win. The Spurs proved that. Detroit proved that.

Yeah you need superstars to win but the idea that you must save cap room so you can beg them to jump ship every 3-4 years is not healthy for the league. Players get traded and guys sign places and if you can help it being prepared to give them an offer is something you should prepare for.

That's why the league sucks cuz yams are supposed to manage their pay roll like this anyway so they can make moves. Why do they have to strangle hold everything chasing the same players every time they are free?

The knicks have cap but judging by Phil comments and trades, he's really not making free agency the end all option. He's left the window open but he's prepared to improve the talent regardless if the big name wants to come or not.

so mor teams should be like the spurs and more players should be like rose. Come if you want but if not you still have to bring it when you step in their house.

I was listening to ESPN this morning and whoever the stand-in host for Colin Cowherd (Dan Le Batard?) was criticizing Rose for not helping out with the recruitment effort because as a team leader that is now part of the job description, saying that it's what Dirk and Kobe are doing, he needs to take this responsibility.

It is an interesting development in the responsibilities of "stars". Half of me figures that if you are going to be a star player, this is part of that role along with having to deal with the media more, etc. But I also respect Rose's decision: he's a player who has his own career to worry about, and that is traditionally the responsibility of the front office.

Here's a stat for the number crunchers

Melo attempted 310 field goals in his 12 games before the Pacers eliminated the Knicks.

LeBron, who is in second place and 12 shots back will likely pass Melo in Game 2 of the Finals. For now, Melo has the lead despite playing five fewer playoff games than LeBron and scoring 91 fewer points.

I wish I could find that video spoof of the Knicks where Woodson is telling Copelnd 'you don't shoot, Melo shoots'. Melo is going to have to change his rep of being a ball stopper if he wants to get a serious guy like Rose excited about the prospect of playing together.

if you were rose would you enjoy playing with a player like melo? you'd think seeing the spurs dominate would have opened they eyes of many many people.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Well does this mean that his brother won't publicly criticize the bulls for not getting him help.

It can be spinned that Rose is more concerned with his own career.... Or it could be spun that Rose isn't going to beg a guy to come play with his team. Rose has said that he's not going anywhere so players will have to come to the Bulls if they want to play with him. He'll suit up with anyone on the roster. That's been bulls basketball the last few years. They play who they have and they win.

The media tries to spin that Phil is desperate. His actions and words say that he is going to build something here regsrdless. Life isn't over if Melo leaves. I'm sure there's a plan B already in motion.

If you want to come, come but don't ask me to take less. Good attitude to have. And that is the same attitude Melo has I'm ok with it.

After being out the better part of 2 seasons with knee problems, Rose might not want to make any promises that he can't keep. Might not want to answer questions about his knees which he can't fully answer. If Rose misses another season or a good chunk of it, he won't have to hear about making pitches to FAs anymore.

Well that's because they have other pieces around that are better than the one dimensional scorer. It's not like he said there wouldn't be teams interested in Melo services next year. Its not like Tyson who doesn't like Melo respects his game enough to publicly say he will recruit Melo to the Mavs. Its not like Houston will trade away former Mr KNICK savior Lin, who is Mr. Team/ Smart/High IQ/humble pg. Thibs is just playcating to the fan base. He knows he doesn't want a player who allowed opponents to shoot 37.2% against him on his team. Can't coach him up at all.

I think you might have interpreted it wrong. I know Rose isn't a FA. I don't want to paint anyone as a bad guy. Simply put the rules of the game say he is allowed to be a max player as with Melo. If I were the players I would go on strike this cap thing going on seems very suspect to me. Why do players have to take less to make things work while Organizations are selling for 2.5 billion.

That's like your boss saying we are going to hire you help but you have to take a pay cut so he can get paid. Something very very wrong about it. I actually like what Rose is saying and doing. This is the way it's suppose to be. Why do players have to help GMs by taking less they agreed to this in negotiations. If anything they( the players reps and owners)should have made the cap higher or Max deals should have been capped at 18 Million. Instead they tied their hands and left very little flexibility for each other.

Also remember Rose was outspoken about LeBron in 2010.

It wasn't just the players taking less money for the spurs, it was the players IQ,the players unsefishness and the coach. Just look at who the spurs draft "kyle Anderson" who is considered to be the best passing big man in the draft, who plays so unselfish.

Some of these stupid ass GM's look at a guy like melo and just because he's an elite scorer, there willing to get rid of half of the roster to get him, not taking into the account of (DOES HE REALLY FIT OUR SYSTEM)

It's like the 04 olympic team, full of talent, but the worst group of NBA players you could have possible put together.

I cant even tell if thats a serious post or not.

Lets deal with truth.

True or false:
The Mavs, Rockets, Bulls and Lakers are all ready to offer Melo a max contract.

True or false:
The Mavs, Rockets, Bulls and Lakers are all playoff teams looking to take the next level and compete for a title.
*** yea I know the Lakers, who are the best run org in sports missed the playoffs last year.

So I can say, without expressing my opinion, simply stating what is reality that the competitive market for Melo is a max contract and that market is being set by playoff teams, two of which have won titles under their current management in the last few years.

Well I um. I um. I don't really care what those other teams do because I am a kNick fan true and blue since before you could spell Walt CLyde Frazier and that is not his value to the knicks. If Phil does offer him over $15M it will be because Dolan forced his hand and because Melo is a greedy money grabber who is a negative sum/ fools goal/ Whole Milk/ empty calorie/ sucralose/Boca burger/ type player.
