More speculation on a slow news day.

The Suns have $33.5 million in salary-cap space and could shed the next $10 million needed to sign James and Anthony to maximum contracts without unloading the young core of guards Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic and center Miles Plumlee that pushed the franchise to 48 victories in the Western Conference last season.

The Suns drafted North Carolina State's T.J. Warren, a scoring forward, Syracuse guard Tyler Ennis and Serbian scorer Bogdan Bogdanovich in the first round of Thursday's NBA draft.

After the top FA's have signed and the dust clears there are going to be several teams with massive cap space. This is when players like Stat with their expiring contracts might have value to a team looking to try and play in the 2015 FA class.

As soon as Wade, Bosh and Haslem opted out of their contracts, its pretty much a done deal that Lebron is returning to the Heat, IMO. The plan is for all to take less for perhaps longer years so they can fill out the roster.

It's really a joke that big 3 went 2-2 and now need more reinforcements. NBA is getting lame.

If I were Melo & Lebron, I'd really consider Phoenix- I think they've some nice pieces and a great style of play.

A Phoenix team with Lebron, Melo, Plumlee, Bledsoe and Dragic would be a lot of fun to watch.....but would they win it all? Comparing it to Miami's current team they could. I think a team with a Melo just coasting is very dangerous...Lebron can do him and when he needs to pass, Melo is the guy that will not shy from that shot. He would make most of the important ones if he has to give minimal effort throughout the game. 3 above average passers and ball handlers on the same team? You simply can't double anyone. I keep going back to Melo because in this situation he would average 30pt a game and you wouldn't even remember cuz it would be so easy.

Very unlikely scenario but fun to think about.

As long as that team competes defensively, they are better than the Heat. Bosh hasn't been the star they hoped for in Miami although he's a good 3rd option and Wade is declining and doesn't spread the floor, seems to need the ball in his hands. However, they're also in the west which makes it tougher and we've seen teams who are supposedly "stacked" fail. Just look at the Lakers or even the Nets. I don't care how much firepower you have offensively. If you don't get your entire team to play D you probably won't make it past the second round in the west. I still think Melo takes his talents to south beach, the Heat come back more focused and don't coast like they did this past year and probably win it all. Miami has some major cap space and bird rights
