Hope this bodes well for the Knicks' discussions with Melo.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11144529/zach-randolph-agrees-two-year-20-million-extension-memphis-grizzlies

Zach Randolph has agreed to a two-year, $20 million extension with the Memphis Grizzlies, the former All-Star forward confirmed Friday.

Zach Randolph, who averaged 17.4 points and 10.1 rebounds last season, has agreed to a two-year extension with the Memphis Grizzlies.

"It's cool, man," Randolph told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "This is where I want to be."

Good thing we traded this selfish player.

Randolph is making 16.5 million this season, the extension is for 20 mill per year.

Randolph’s 2014-15 cap hit remains $16,938,333, but the Grizzlies wouldn’t have had cap room this summer even if Randolph had opted out and re-signed with the same salary spread equally over three years.
Now, he’ll make less in 2015 (when Marc Gasol becomes a free agent) and 2016 (when Mike Conley becomes a free agent)
.

I didn't realize Z-Bo was 33. Still his game should age decently.

He took less than he could have asked for, got it. At least Randolph still got a raise. Shows he really wants to stay there. Zach said he would still live in Memphis if he were traded. His family has put down roots. Don't believe Melo feels as strongly about staying with a ring on his mind, but he sounded serious about wanting it to be a good place to raise his family.

Agree. I think he had micro fracture surgery as well. Funny in Memphis they have talked about him as a team leader. I remember rumors that Walsh was going to have to trade the Gallo pick with Randolph to move him.

not really, z-bo in NY is not the same player we see in memphis... wrong timing here, just wrong everything... really good player, but remember our goal was lebron, plus we had to clean house... the isiah era was brutal..

his value back then was low as was almost every knick... just look at what we got z-bo for, it is not like we traded some allstar talents to get him...I think frye was the best player we traded in that deal, we traded him and a washed up steve francis..

Think it is 20m for 2 years, added to his current 16.5m this year
So viewed as 3years 36.5m

or

2year 10m per year
