Denver trades Evan Fournier and the 56th pick for Aflalo.

Not a bad deal at all for denver, they needed a SG badly... he had a pretty good year actually.

i have always liked his game. gritty and unselfish. glad they got him back.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Is Affalo a SG or SF, regardless he is a G/F

I think he is more of an undersized SF than a SG in his earlier years with Delfino playing important roles but he has improved his ability to score and shooting much more the past couple seasons
Many fans forget he was part of the team when the Detroit Pistons were one of better teams in the league for a couple years that won a ring and went to a couple Finals appearances and Easter Conference Finals as well

Without a true ALL STAR, with the OFF run through

Rasheed Wallace
Richard Hamilton
Billups

Prince at times on the POST
Mehmet Okur

and as role players to fill out the lanes, space the floor, and hit

Delfino/Affalo

don't remember if Stuckey had a role with them, maybe as a rookie but they were already much older by then, and was in decline

The Defense was lead by the length, versatility, athleticism, mobility, and HIGH IQ TEAM PLAYERS

Rasheed Wallace
Ben Wallace
Prince

With Delfino and Affalo being important pieces as well on the defensive side

what he does is upgrade their SG position. remember Iggy was playing SG for denver when he probably is a SF, and they won 57 games with him. Aflalo will give them scoring and some defense from that position and that for Denver is a huge upgrade..

good points and good post overall.. I agree..

Yet Orlando dumped him for salary and pick 56

While dumped Felton, got Larkin (previous 1st rounder in last years draft), in addition to gaining 2 2nd round picks in picks 34 and 51, gained some financial relief for this year which is multiplied by 3 because of the TAXes on penalties on repeat offenders

Yes, we have also gained a year on Calderon's contract while Mavericks got more financial relief for that year, but that was why they gave up the assets they did, while taking on Felton's contract
To be able to play a better SYSTEM/TEAM BALL we will need multiple PG's to do so with the talents to space the floor
Felton and Pablo simply are not capable of orchestrating anything on a STARTING level

So if Affalo who is the > player compared to Calderon only got 1 late 2nd rounder, we completely got a steal in the respect while Asik's 1st rounder isn't in this draft but next years draft
More importantly we dumped FELTON, despite him being the likely ranked with the worst starting PG on both ends of the floor if NOT the worst himself

With this move, I fully expect Orlando (a team in the state of Florida with Miami) and the Texas teams of Mav's/Spurs/Houston to go for be able to persue 2 ALL STAR's this summer along with all the draft picks they own, young players, and future draft picks owned, with only 30m committed to contracts/salaries in addition to picks

Picks

4
12
56

future picks owned include

2015 second round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
L.A. Lakers' 2015 2nd round pick to Orlando protected for selections 31-40 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then the L.A. Lakers' obligation to Orlando will be extinguished) [Denver-L.A. Lakers-Orlando-Philadelphia, 8/10/2012]

2017 first round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
If at least two years after the L.A. Lakers conveyed a 1st round pick to Phoenix, then the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Orlando protected for selections 1-5 in 2017 or 1-5 in 2018 or unprotected in 2019; if the L.A. Lakers have not conveyed a 1st round pick to Phoenix by 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey their 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012 and then L.A. Lakers-Orlando, 8/10/2012]

2017 first round draft pick from Philadelphia
Philadelphia's 1st round pick to Orlando protected for selections 1-11 in 2017 or 1-8 in 2018; if Philadelphia has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Orlando by 2018, then Philadelphia will instead convey its 2018 2nd round pick and 2019 2nd round pick to Orlando [Miami-Philadelphia, 6/28/2012 and then Denver-L.A. Lakers-Orlando-Philadelphia, 8/10/2012]

with no more outgoing picks after this summer's 2nd round pick

Victor Oladipo
Tobias Harris
Vucevic

Andrew Nicholson
Moe Harkless

likely letting Jammer Nelson walk or in a sign and trade for assets if possible

Picks in todays draft include many different combinations of players and likely one being a PG with either Smart, Daunte Exum, or Tyler Ennis, with combo guards Zach Lavine/Elfrid Payton

With pick 4, they can go for some of the above or trade down, or draft

Julius Randle
Embid or (Wiggins/Parker if they drop or trade up for them, with Embid they have the luxury of gambling on him as they own 3 picks in next seasons draft, 2 of which are their own if they tank and one of the Laker's 2nd round which will likely be HIGH)

Noah Vonleh/ Aaron Gordon who may be a poor mans Blake Griffen if he fills out and gets stronger with his athleticism/agility

However, they have the ability to sign
In addition to luring both Lebron/CA or Bosh/Gasol/Randolph
There are many options of combinations they can use with their cap space/exemptions/picks/trades

Looks like Phil was on the phone handling another matter...

I am shocked Orlando sold for so low, though.

You can't blame Phil because Orlando doesn't know what it's doing. If you step back and think about our trade you realize Dallas was one of the few places, if the only place, that we could get good value for Chandler when packaged with Felton (due to chandler's overrated legacy there). If you have a problem with our trade you are probably disappointed by any trade unless we get a star. It was a nice haul.

Testing Sun's RFA Eric Bledsoe to a HIGH contract, probably near max or in the likes of Jrue Holiday contract to team up with Oladipo

OTHER RFA's include

RFA Gordon Hayward
RFA Lance Stephenson
RFA Greg Monroe
RFA Patrick Peterson and Greviez Vasquez

As well as going for combination quality players like

Gortat

Pau Gasol
Zach Randolph (assuming he opts out)

Trevor Ariza
Deng

maybe reuniting some of the past Magic with Marcin Gortat, Channing Frye, Ariza, Carter, Turkeglu, Mike Miller, Josh McRoberts, Drew Gooden

Blatche
Jordan Hill

Lowry

Livingston/ Avery Bradley/ Darrius Morris

Darren Collison/ Patty Mills/ DJ Augistine/ Brian Roberts

Sessions/Bayless/Mo Williams

Josh McRoberts
Jeff Adrien

gambles on Bynum/Varajo (team option) if they want to gamble a bit...

Orlando has the ability to both sign players and/or trade for players
Their needs are

Center, depending on what they view Vucevic as, either a PF or C

G/F: though both Harkless and Nicholson have shown some improvement and skills/abilities to play SG, SF, PF

Last season, they didn't have many games with Vucevic, Tobias Harris (who could be a SF/stretch 4 of their future), and Olandipo which are their current development BIG 3 play TOGETHER

PG: Think they need a PG of their future as Nelson is older and would need has a team option on him that they likely will cut/trade

If we got Afflalo, a lot of people would be all over Phil for trading more assets for a player below star level.

Orlando is sending him out West and NOT to a possible contender

Other teams do not serve the NYK's, they do not think "HOW CAN WE MAKE NYK BETTER"

in fact, like PapaBear as pointed out in the past, I believe they make us overpay for talents and enjoy raping us
With Phil Jackson in charge now, I am hoping things will change, and it was mainly because they hated Dolan too much
Hoping it was Dolan was an idiot that they knew they could take advantage off and was a douche

As for as Phil Jackson, even as his first GIG as President of Operations
He has earned the respect in the league, one of his strengths is dealing with all different types of personalities

if you're a knicks fan, you need to worry about orlando being a destination for boozer and chicago's picks. they are way under the cap and can absorb him.

orlando also got fournier.....I am sorry ron-ron, but we didn't get a better deal than this and honestly I didn't expect the knicks to either..

and a first round pick in next years draft without having to take back a dollar in salary is also better than our deal.. nevertheless we made a nice reasonable deal... I am not going to trump it up to be any better than that...

Dude, I'm not worried about the other trade. I'm just taking about this particular deal. With the picks we have now, you don't think we could've fielded a better offer for Afflalo? Let's be honest, he might be one of the top 5 SG's in the league. That is the kind of player we should've been targeting.
