Wow. I'm mixed on this -- there's favorable elements to it (Dalembert would be an expiring contract assuming only his team option for 2014/15 is picked up and no raise, Larkin's a promising enough young PG I guess, Ellington's still young and can really shoot it, I'll take the future 2nd rounder that's said to be included, they would be taking Felton off our hands) but Calderon still has a lot left on his deal. That's the deal-breaker for me...Substitute Brandan Wright's expiring contract at $5mm for Calderon and either cash and/or another younger player with upside (Ricky Ledo? Jae Crowder?) to offset and it instantly becomes much more attractive...
Even so, this kinda screams "is that really the best we can do?" Shoot, if we're looking at dealing Chandler (a) with no 1st rounder coming back and (b) where we'd be expected to take on any kind of long-term salary in return, I think New Orleans is a much better trade partner. I think I'd keep looking or at the very least, flesh this out a little better in our favor..
Another thing -- how good a player is Shane Larkin? He'd be the primary building block we'd be getting in return here...Is he that much better than DJ Augustin by comparison or a PG we might be able to get late in this draft for cash like a Russ Smith, Deonte Burton, DeAndre Kane? I'm not really sold on Larkin to be honest...
