They'll likely end up with Loul Deng, will re-sign Pau Gasol and could trade for a Omer Asik-Jeremy Lin combo. That's good enough to be an 8th seed in the West, IMO.

Kobe not contending for a thing here but smack dab in the middle of a rebuild.

His contract is a killer.

It would be a starphuch seat seller in a rebuild for Durant in two years.

Kobe can play in NY, he can play for the Nets.

Phil is too calm. He's like Melo could stay or go whatever.

The Lakers are do or die this summer. They want to try and get Melo and or Lebron or tear it down.

My thing is its already tore down. They only have kobe and Nash on the books anyone else isn't worth mentioning.

The knicks can offer Amare and filler for Kobe....Kobe wasting massive cap space just to miss the playoffs in the west kinda doesn't make any sense. Sure they can put together a rag tag bunch to play with Kobe but again the west is deep. Why not save the money and just rebuild towards the next dynasty.

Kobe will always be a Laker. If he's going anywhere it can only be the Mecca to play with Melo. That shot would work and it would send shockwaves through the east. Having to deal with a Melo and Kobe, maybe Pau with Calderón and dalembert. Add odom, and any mix of our young guns off the bench.

I would love to see Melo and Kobe compete in a chuckfest. That would probably also make Gasol a really happy camper.
