"The Knicks’ dream of pairing LeBron, Carmelo now all but dead" - Marc Berman

There should be a boycott of all sportswriters who assert their opinion as the official strategy of Phil Jackson.

Phil Jackson will constructed the 2015 Knicks with the blueprint of the 1973 roster.

12 Dick Barnett SG 6-4 190 October 2, 1936 12 Tennessee State University
17 Henry Bibby PG 6-1 185 November 24, 1949 R University of California, Los Angeles
24 Bill Bradley SF 6-5 205 July 28, 1943 5 Princeton University
22 Dave DeBusschere PF 6-6 220 October 16, 1940 10 University of Detroit Mercy
10 Walt Frazier PG 6-4 200 March 29, 1945 5 Southern Illinois University

40 John Gianelli C 6-10 220 June 10, 1950 R University of the Pacific
18 Phil Jackson PF 6-8 220 September 17, 1945 4 University of North Dakota
32 Jerry Lucas PF 6-8 230 March 30, 1940 9 Ohio State University
7 Dean Meminger SG 6-0 175 May 13, 1948 1 Marquette University
15 Earl Monroe SG 6-3 185 November 21, 1944 5 Winston-Salem State University

23 Luther Rackley C 6-10 220 June 11, 1946 3 Xavier University
19 Willis Reed C 6-9 235 June 25, 1942 8 Grambling State University
6 Tom Riker C 6-10 225 February 28, 1950 R University of South Carolina
43 Harthorne Wingo PF 6-6 210 September 9, 1947 R Friendship Junior College

The rest of the speculation is pure, unfiltered hyperbole.

Absolutely

Jmpasq - think skill sets.

Start with a backcourt staffed by two guards who can be trusted to make proper decisions under pressure. Having three who could create off the dribble was a luxury. The characteristic that separated the 73 Knicks from the rest of the league was poise. Bradley and DeBusschere held down the forward spots, with Uncle Phil as the designated elbow. After Willis was injured, Jerry Lucas would slide to center and provide impossible to cover on the perimeter. And that was BEFORE the three point line. Sheesh.

Think skill sets. Yes, we will never see that much sheer talent in one uniform, but Phil could be thinking shared responsibility more than he is thinking superstars, as the media assumes.

Exactly

And quoting the post at that. Berman sucks and he's clueless. His opinion is irrelevant. Also we can't afford Lebron unless he came here through Fema

Earl, this whole post is pure hyperbole. When did Phl ever indicate he planned on rebuilding the Knicks using the 73' blueprint???
What team did he ever build using that blueprint? That team was a once in a lifetime team.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

BigRedDog - actually, Uncle Phil said "I'm looking for the next Michael Jordan."

Personally, The Answer Man would be happy with a reasonable facsimile of Jerry Lucas.

why not us? Why can't we sign both of them?
We dump Chandler and Felton ($20 Million) on a team for a draft pick.
We dump bargnani ($12 million) to another team for a draft pick...

Those are expiring contracts.

We sign Lebron out right
We bird right melo.

I'm not seeing why that is not possible...other than the standard (because we can't)

Looking at the salary currently (and i may of course be off) the knicks have a total salary number of $67 million.
At $88 million they were $30 million over the cap. $17 million over the tax line.

The dumps up above total $32 million and with melo opting out that's another $23 million. (bird rights)

$55 million off the books at the start of free agency, should we do the above dumps.

Bargnani definitely a question mark, but chandler not so much...he's proven and a team like dallas may be willing to take him back as a salary dump for example.

Bron signs, we resign melo.

New York City is the media capital of the world.

We would need to add more to be a contender, but still...why not us and why not now?

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

BabyKnicks - if your were an NBA general manager and owned a juicy draft pick, what would motivate you to surrender a relatively inexpensive (and potentially gifted) yute, in exchange for the $20million dollars you would need to shell out for Tyson Chandler and (cough) Raymond Felton?

Phil Jackson struck a big deal Wednesday to trade Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to Dallas in exchange for point guard Jose Calderon, center Samuel Dalembert, point guard prospect Shane Larkin, reserve shooter Wayne Ellington and the 34th and 51st picks in Thursday's draft, as reported by ESPN’s Marc Stein.

The Answer Man puts on his hat and leaves.

Well shut my mouth.
