I think one thing this team has that many fans and media alike don't appreciate is some decent young players that can be further developed into key players for the future. I really appreciated the positive take on those prospects from Fisher.

“I’m not as down on the roster and the team as some of you in the room are,” Fisher said during his introductory news conference last week. “I think there are some things that we can do with this team that can be special right now, not years from now.

"I believe in a lot of the guys on this roster. Several of our young players -- obviously Iman Shumpert has enjoyed a great career so far. Tim Hardaway Jr. had a phenomenal rookie season last year. Toure' Murry is a guy to me that has a lot of potential and versatility. So there are a number of guys that we feel like as we continue to establish who we are, establish our identity and create a system that we think works best for our team and our players that it will allow our young players, veteran players, however we end up putting together this roster for the '14-15 season, we believe we’re going to give ourselves the best chance to be good."

In addition to dealing with Anthony’s situation, the Knicks have to make a decision soon on Murry. The guard has drawn interest from the Bulls, Nets and Warriors. The Knicks have until June 29 to decide whether they want to make Murry a restricted free agent, enabling them to match any offer from a competitor.

New York also has an option on the contracts for Jeremy Tyler and Lamar Odom. Backup center Cole Aldrich and reserve guard Shannon Brown are also free agents.

I fully agree with this sentiment. I saw some really positive things from Cole Aldrich last year. I was wanting to see him get more minutes and when he got them he really showed some promise. The same thing with Murry. I don't think he was put in the best situation for his talent. I think he'll be much better in a system like the Triangle if he can work on his shooting. His defense and size make him a very good fit for the Triangle. Less PnR and more cutting and simple passes is a better role for him than being a pure PG. He could definitely be more of a Fisher type of PG in this system. I in fact thought he got better on his jumper and seemed more confident overall as the year went along.

A kid like Jeremy Tyler has all kinds of talent and just needs PT and good training from a competent Big man coach. Putting these kids into a program that focuses on the fundamentals and passing etc is gonna be real good for them and any future kids we bring in. There will be a base of BB skills, fitness, diet and teamwork that will enhance any talent we have.

There mustn't be much news out there. I believe that quote is from Fish's opening presser. I think he will be a great coach and I am glad he is excited about the roster.

Nice! Love a coach that wants to develop the youth. And since we are not going to win anyway next year. I'd love to see a starting line up Lin (via sign and trade with Houston),thjr, shump,Amare,Tyler. Trade jr for mkg of the hornets try and get a draft pick in that deal to, get rid of cry baby Tyson for draft picks, have brags come off the bench maybe get pj Hairston with one of the picks we get for Tyson or jr. Lin/murry,thjr/Hairston,shump/MKG,Amare/brags,Tyler/ cole Aldrich or vice versa with the two centers ... Who cares what we do, if were good cool just means we have some diamonds in the rough, if not, lottery pick with tons of cap room to sign some really great players.

Tyler has all the talent in the world he just needs more pt, thjr is great I expect a great soph season... Shump will be better next year, amare as the go to vet. But if we can get a mid first round for Tyson get the pg from u conn shabazz Napier. I like that more then Lin.

This statement was taken from an interview with Michael Kay. I think it is a great sign for those of us who want to see more of a commitment to these young guys on the roster. I think putting them in a system where things are much more regimented will help them. This idea of guys being out there winging it and trying to create something out of nothing isn't good for players that aren't great individual offensive talents. To win with less talent you must have high levels of execution.

I'm very curious to see just how good the same players can play when properly coached on how to play and think the game. Developing good BB habits. Just how good can Cole and Tyler be? Can we develop Shump, THJ and Murry into a good group of guards who can play great defense and smart offense? Can we control JR so that he learns when to go solo and when to stick to the offense?
