He is a defensive big that can show or trap but also get back to the paint. His IQ and footwork is very good to go along with his grown man body. His numbers is not great offensively but I think a lot of points was left off the board because of pg play during his time. UF and Billy D offense is more whole sum than focus on one or two players. There is usually not much separation between the top 6 players in regards to scoring. I think that's why players get to the nba and surprise people how well they play on that end. If they had focus on throwing him a few lobs a game off the PnR his numbers would be even better. The offense would sometimes go away from him at times. He has the ability to throw the hook with each hand but his low post moves need work. His jumper need to progress going forward too. He has good form he just needs to gain confidence. Knicks could use Young and Wilbekin. Those two could up the defensive capabilities of the team tremendously. I bet Wilbekin would out perform Murry in Summer League on both ends. I never liked Murry's footwork on D and he let his man bye to many times only to reach in from the back to knock the ball away. That worked in the summer but not so much during the year. Now Murry is young and he could grow if he adds more strength and a jumper. I just think Wilbekin has the footwork coming in and was good distance shooter with a solid base and shooting motion that should carry over. I think he is a UFA guy but I wouldn't be surprise if a team drafts him at the end of the second to get his draft rights and send him to Europe for a year. |
