We've seen flashes, its about consistency (as you said) with Tyler. Hard to say without some extended PT which Woodson didn't give him. Maybe the next coach will.

He was very foul prone when he did get minutes. It is a tough call with him. He is intriguing but has been trying to put it altogether for awhile now.

I dunno -- I'm usually all over young guys with upside like this but I'm just not feeling him. I just didn't see a real hunger in him to get better, a nastiness. There were times when he looked OK but by and large, the few times he did get meaningful mins. he underwhelmed (there was a game in Boston where we won w/o Chandler where Woody finally gave meaningful time to Aldrich, Earl Clark & Tyler. Not sure if you guys recall the game -- Aldrich and Clark both responded with big games and a noticeable impact and Tyler did nothing -- when he got back in there I remember thinking, 'Jesus, put Aldrich and/or Clark back in there asap!' Outside of his sheer size there's nothing that really stands out about Tyler..I think we'd be better off using that roster spot on Daniel Orton. This guy's not an automatic either but he seems like a better choice to move forward with. As big, maybe wider and a bit stronger, a tad younger and a little more apt to achieve his ceiling if I were a betting man. I thought Tyler's ceiling could've been Vin Baker at one point but I no longer see that. He's not nearly as skilled as Baker was in his heyday. Orton, on the other hand, could be the next Kendrick Perkins w/o much more improvement. He's much more of a natural C type than Tyler -- stronger, wider, looks like a better rebounder, much better shot-blocker. Tyler looks lost; Orton plays tougher, like he means business. Even a guy like 6'8" 250 Richard Howell has a better chance of achieving his ceiling, which I kinda see as DeJuan Blair...They're different types of players just like Baker and Perkins were -- I think I'd rather take my chances on coming up with the next Perkins or DeJuan Blair than wasting my time and coming up empty with Tyler.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Yes if he can stop fouling everything he defends and build some consistancy with his talented ability to block shots, score from anywhere, and use his incredable athletic ability. he needs to be active on both ends of the floor. He's got a great turn around jumper. He's a high flyer.tyler is a really good rebounder. He Can defend the paint. He's only 22. If Woodson didn't pull him every time he made his first mistake on the floor (chandler made mistakes almost every time he touched the ball) he might have become a bigger part of our rotation last year... A new coach will see his ability and Tyler will be a part of the rotation next year. He's too talented to keep on the bench ...needs to stop fouling though

No. Trying to figure out what was wrong with him and I think he's robotic. No fluidity. He has set moves on offense. They arent bad but when defended well he gets lost. Its like he's got 2 tricks. They are good tricks but once you figure them out he's done. Remember he played in China or some league where he was essentially the biggest strongest dude in the league and he OK at best.

No problem keeping him around on the end of the bench. He's very young and many bigs do develop late. He seems athletic enough. Maybe he's dumb? I honestly dont know but something is missing

To Tyler's credit, he had shown some improvement since his time with Golden State. He's already shown the potential to be a rotation guy and he's only 22. I think he can be a legitimate starter in another year or two. The biggest improvements he needs to make are mental. He could also improve his free throws.
