Question: Do we own Houston's 2nd rounder this year for JVG.

I feel that this year's 2nd round may offer almost as much potential as the first. In other words, it's not a top heavy draft. I really like the following guys who are likely or at least possibly 2nd rounders:

Romain Sato - Top notch character, has a game that reminds me of Vernon Maxwell.

Christian Drejer - Not as good as he thinks he is, but solid value if found in the 2nd.

Tony Allen - Boy, we could have used him rather than Shandon Anderson when Houston went down. His defense & athleticism make him a nice backup 2 guard prospect.

Chris Duhon - I hope they trade Frank Williams now that his trade value might finally be higher than his vertical jump.

Very good question. Its been widely speculated (on the internet) that we do, but there has never been any acknowledgement by either team that we obtained the pick. I seriously doubt we own the Rockets second rounder....which is too bad.

Yes we do have it. I beleive Houston has the right to pick which year to give it to us. I am not sure when their choice of year expires. Here is a link...

Very cool....I doubt we will get it this year as Houston doesn't have a first rounder and will probably assume they are going to be better next year. Thanks NYKBocker.

Other good second round prospects could be Ricky Paulding (If he is still around) and Darius Rice, if HE is still around. I think it's in the best interest of Isiah, though, to make that trade for a first round draft pick. I don't care what number it is. 1-29 is fine with me! BUT, there are other young players in the league that I like, that would be just as good as a 1st rounder.

The Knicks traded a 2nd roudner to get Tim Thomas. Not sure if it's Houston's pick, but on that link you provided it says the Knicks owe the Hawks 1.

If we dont move up for a big man, and the mocks are even close to being right--my pick stays the same --andre emmitt. tony allen would also be a good second round pick because of physical toughness pitbull defense and the ability to run and finish very strong. guys like rice drejer etc.. are soft wings and we have one in demarr.

characteristics that we should be looking for are a full physical NBA body with corresponding athletiscm toughness and two way skills. both allen and emmitt have those traits although its going to take some euro hype and HS love to force them down at the end of the day IMHO.

IF the basketball gods are smiling on us that day...I hope we get to choose from either Romain Sato, Rickey Paulding or Tony Allen. We need some athletic SGs.

That's a 2005 second round pick. I think Houston will give us this years second rounder because they get Utah's second rounder in 04. I believe we will have two second rounders in this upcoming draft which is a good thing because we can move up to grab one of the seasoned swingmen that will hang around late in the draft or one of the big men that can turn out to be very good.

absolutely! only difference is the order. allen/sato/paulding for me.
if we do have 2 second rounders, how about we keep one and trade the other plus let's say trybanski, for a 1st rounder. if araujo can't be had, try for harrison or ramos. even though i'm kind of ify on ramos.(7'4)
