How can you not watch this and not love and respect him as a player, as a man, as a teammate, as a friend and most of all, as a son.

After this speech, I think the whole nation is rooting for him.

There is no way in the world that he leaves OKC. This guy has too much integrity and emotional attachment to make such a move.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

He's gone if they don't win, this isn't the old days where you stick around for your whole career. Especially now a days where the only thing that matters is winning a championship. It's really that simple.

Jealous of the sincere team chemistry- makes it easier to root for a team when they all like and support each other.

Durant is with the Thunder for life- there is no way he ever leaves them voluntarily.

i THINK HE even did his contract to where he didn't have the early opt out.. he love OKC, they love him... that is great if you ask me.. great guy it seems, great player for sure....

he said he watched lebron's + rose's mvp speeches and wanted to make a bigger impact. seems a little bit ingenuous.

You can't say that if you saw the speech.

I agree, but if actually planned that, not as sincere as one would think

This is what he said:

“When they told me I was going to win this prestigious award, the first thing I did was go to YouTube, and I looked at what LeBron James said a few years ago and what Derrick Rose said,” Durant said. “And I just tried to change it up a little bit. I wanted to come here and hit everybody in the face with what I said so they could feel it. I wanted to leave my mark.”

Nothing wrong with that. He was saying that he wanted to connect with the crowd and he wanted them to feel how he felt.

He wanted his speech to mean something to people and to give his mother the proper thanks that she deserved.

"We weren't supposed to be here," Durant said. "You made us believe. You kept us off the street. You put clothes on our backs. You put food on the table. When you didn't eat, you made sure we ate and [you] went to sleep hungry.

"You sacrificed for us. You're the real MVP."

Do we have to knock a guy who actually opened himself up to the fans, his teammates and his family? We should all learn from him what it means to appreciate the good people around us and not to make it all about ourselves.

And waddya know ... he did not refer to himself in third person

I didn't think much of this topic when I read it but after watching the video it's refreshing to see how real he is and how he speaks 100% from the heart. Gained newfound respect and admiration for him.

Before I heard this I was indifferent about him. Now, I am rooting for him.

So he basically cut and pasted and shifted some words around,

nothing special about that

Amazing speech from a special guy. He could never have done that playing for an owner like Dolan, since his spirit would long since have been crushed under the boot heel of a corporate culture that stifles individual expression.

Power to troof, KD. You are awesome.
