Golden State has fired coach Mark Jackson, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Rumor has it Kerr will decide where he will coach by weeks end. For everyone who thought this was a lock, this week is going to be interesting. Honestly though, if Kerr was going to take the Knicks job, he would have already.

Not sure which is the real Kerr thread now! So I'll post the same thing in both!:

Why is it that when we get interested in someone, suddenly other teams make a play for them? Kerr has zero coaching experience- no one wanted him as coach until he was rumoured to be going to NY, now suddenly every team wants him. They're welcome to him!

Curious because They might want someone with experience instead of breaking in a new coach. Got Jerry West advising and attends practice. It don't take a rocket scientist to run the triangle but if Phil got some of his staff lined up Kerr won't poach them out of respect. I doubt Kerr would be pain in the ass as Jax was. \

Maybe Jax lands in Indy and can pray with Roy.

I knew this would happen. It was kind of obvious that he knew this and was waiting for this job opening.

Its not like his record as coach had something to do with it. Rick Carlisle bounced around the league even though he had a very good record as coach. Players thought he was too abrasive from what Ive read. Looks like Jackson's relationship with his assts did him in. Dumb reason to fire him if its true. Jax can coach so Im sure it isnt the last we've heard of him. If Kerr takes the GS job I wonder if Phil would consider Jax?

No thanks on Jax for Knicks:

Jackson clashed constantly with management and struggled to manage his coaching staff during his Warriors tenure. Jackson's disinterest in game preparation and reluctance to practice despite a mostly young and gifted roster played a part in management's reluctance to commit long term to him, league sources said.

kerr is going with the knicks, he has no interest in coaching golden state, the media only linked him to the job because he lives in the area. I think he really wants to know whats up with melo.

On another note, hope curry demands a trade to ny

Golden St wants Brian Scalabrine to be the coach.....he was stashed in the d-league for being blatantly disrespectful to Jax. There was a article about it the other day.

We'll see what happens, but I think Jackson is the wrong person for us right now.

It also might explain Stephen Curry's ability to stay on the court the past two regular seasons.

pros and cons:

GSW - Talented deep roster under contract for several more years
NYK - In rebuild mode. Our star player will be a FA and will explore his options

GSW - In win now mode. They have given away most of their draft picks to build their roster and have no cap flexibilty to sign FA's to improve. The pressure is on to make a deep run. There will be no grace period for a new coach
NYK - Will have the Zen master to tutor him. Will get a free pass his first year on the job due to the roster and next year being a transition year. Sneaking into the playoffs would be considered a win. So would being awful enough for a lottery pick. win/win

GSW - Kerr's family is on the West Coast
NYK - Kerr would have to relocate. His family would stay on the West coast

GSW - Has found deeper pockets, but might not want to get in a bidding war
NYK - Has deeper pockets

Business, never personal...Regadless of how close he might be with Phil, GS has a better, younger roster and Kerr might find that more appealing....

He also allegedly barred Jerry West from attending any practices or team meetings. Pretty idiotic if that's the case.

It would be awkward to go the Warriors to promote Scalabrine given the amount of respect the players had for Jackson. The Warriors will probably hire someone new to the situation. But will management be willing to live with Kerr's growing pains? I agree with you that Mark Jackson isn't a good fit for us right now.

Seems like is was the periphery things that got MJax canned, not the young talent. Kerr seems to have a good relationship with management in GS, so they wont be looking to get rid of him. As long as he works well with his staff/and management....He'll do fine....

The Warriors are like the Knicks with the fact they keep screwing with a good thing. They make changes just for the sake of making changes. This Jax situation simply doesn't make sense. So I think they could care less about what the players though, especially since the players respect the coach. It's weird. Awkward like you said. Anyone that they hire it would be the same. If Kerr really does go over there that would be so odd.

They also have been being with David Lee also.

I don't really see the talent being overwhelming in GS, i love curry, lee, and Klay, but i just don't see any triangle in that line up.
