You saying this has been written about? That if he "Buys in" to a team he can walk away from his contract?
I recall we got a no. 1 draft pick as Heat were seen as tampering. But, that was 20 years ago.
Please expand.
just how Riley left.. yes it was the 20 years ago Im talking about. I think if Phil wanted to buy a stake in the Clippers or take that over he could find some role that would let him out of his contract w/ the Knicks. Like Doc couldnt quit one team and coach another, so the Clips made him president or GM also. If Phil left as an owner in this unique situation Im sure he could find a way out. Totally shooting from the hip here on this... no real news
Ok, this will take some time. I think Sterling will fight this out. Why I don't know, cuz he'll kill the value of his team. But some dudes would prefer to burn it down then give it away. That or he wants epic price.
Maybe they can litigate transfer of ownership to family with stipulations that satisfy everyone.
For Phil, Who knows how it plays out. League will field offers that will include best price and solid finanical backing.
Dolan does not just let people out of contracts!!!!!! He owns you and your silence!!
