Just saw an update that Phil and Kerr met over the weekend.....When I get the article, will post it...

Steve Kerr sounds serious about getting into coaching, and Phil Jackson isn't the only sideline legend he's been leaning on for advice about the profession.

Kerr's agent, former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum, said Saturday that he personally has not spoken with Jackson -- and he wouldn't divulge whether the TNT analyst already has met with his former Bulls coach since Mike Woodson was fired on Monday.

But Kerr, who has never coached in the NBA, has been doing his homework by talking to several heavyweights in the coaching fraternity both in and out of basketball -- most notably former Giants and Jets Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells.

"Over the past year, we have spent a lot of time in terms of… (Kerr) has a plan, and we've talked about it," Tannenbaum said before participating in a Craig Carton's celebrity softball game in Manhattan to benefit the PBA Widows' and Children's Fund. "He's sought out other coaches that he's looked up to, to bounce ideas off of them. So when that day comes he'll be as prepared as possible.

"We spent a day with Coach Parcells," Tannenbaum continued. "To Steve's credit, he flew across the country, went to see him. He spent time with all the great basketball coaches that he's played for. He has detailed notes with all of them. So whenever he gets his opportunity he can hit the ground running."

Tannenbaum added that Kerr also has discussed his potential new profession with former Arizona coach Lute Olsen, as well as with Spurs GM R.C. Buford. Even before this weekend, Jackson revealed on Wednesday that he has spoken to Kerr about coaching as recently as January.

A Knicks source told the Daily News on Friday that Kerr was likely to meet with Jackson at some point over the weekend since he is in town to work Sunday night's Game 4 between the Raptors and Nets in Brooklyn,.

"I won't go into specifics of when they or if they're going to or how that will unfold," Tannenbaum said.

Asked if Kerr, 48, has determined whether he wants to become a head coach, Tannenbaum replied: "I think at some point. When, we're not really sure. Obviously he does a tremendous job broadcasting, but at some point the competitor in him will strongly consider (coaching). When that will be, that will be for him to decide…Getting to know Steve over the last year, whatever he does, he'll be successful."

Kerr, a key member of three of Jackson's championship teams with the Bulls, is considered the leading candidate to replace Woodson due to his familiarity with the Hall of Fame coach's famed Triangle offense. "I know philosophically we have a strong connection," Jackson said Wednesday, adding that he expected to speak with Kerr about the Knicks' opening before the end of the month.
