I would love to know.....
I tried doing a search on the internet to see what he's up to.

Converse is re-releasing his old Grandmama sneakers. I saw a teaser add for them in the last issue of Slam. It woul dbe cool to see those old Commercials....or maybe have LJ revive his role in retirement.

Those sneakers were very comfortable by the way. It had this jelly insole. I was like playing ball on a marshmellow. I'd probably get a pair if they come out with a decent color pattern.

You know, if LJ came back he would automatically become the best defensive player on this team. That's sad.

He has a problem with knick management. He hasn't returned to the garden since he retired, I read. He wasn't even there when Patrick's Jersey was retired, I don't think.

The article I read never identified what his problem was exactly. Now there's a jersey I'd buy.
Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

I always said, LJ was probably our most important player (Aside from Ewing). He was the man, and didn't deserve that treatment he got, but, how much more was he really going to contribute with that bad back? Also, as much as I like him, why shouldn't he have come to Patrick Ewing night? I'll reserve judgement, but I still don't think I like that.

right. oakly TRASHES the knicks management every chance he gets but he was back for pat ewing night. although dice took his number, i still think the knicks will eventually retire oakley's number. he's the only other viable candidate during the ewing era.

ITs been said LJ is very private. How was he treated bad, he got a boat load of money and may have been offered every chance for his own night which he refused if memory serves me. LJ was a shell of his former self.

Players just don't walk away from money, they get bought out. He orchestraed (wisely) his demise to get paid off. Good for him, and we can preserve many fond memories of him rather than linger like Patrick and Oakley did.

i know he said he wanted to coach a jr high school team. also, i know he runs a rec center in dallas. he's probably been a little more involved in the rec center after he retired.

Or maybe he does more of the unthinkable, and enjoys spending his time with his family.

nah, starks was good for a solid 5-6 years but only good. i don't think he was good enough to get his # retired at the garden. bernard king should have his retired before starks does (which i think will happen).

oakley was a bigtime rebounder and defender for about 10 or so years for us. and he's also borderline. you have to be awesome to get your # retired, especially if you didn't win a title.
