The Knicks have failed us as fans, and failed themselves, and there is more than enough blame to go around. We argue endlessly about the Melo trade because the obvious fact is that despite his incredible talents, the result isn't any better than David Lee's last season: finishing 3rd in the division and not making the playoffs.

Meanwhile the rebooted Nets are headed to the playoffs as the only representative of the NYC metro yet again.

Simply blaming Woodson seems weak: last year we had the best record we've had and first second-round appearance since the Van Gundy years. Obviously you can't put it all on Melo, but he disappointed me by publicly dreaming of the postseason practically before the season began. JR, Bargnani, Ron Artest's flame-out, Tyson Chandler… and of course Felton… this has been simply a horrible, horrible team. It was nice to see flashes of old Amar'e come back though, even though I wish he'd never talk to the press with some of the inanity that comes out his mouth. About the only fun I had was that Shame Tread streak, and arguing about homosexuality in sports with the now-banned playa2.

And now we have Phil Jackson: redeemer or starphuch? Time will tell. It's a dreary day here in New York. And all I have to look forward to now is Mets baseball along with Knicks off-season speculation.

Basketball is a team sport, and it is beautiful to see when the sum is greater than the parts. But yet again the Knicks are Goofus while the Nets are Gallant.

Fact of Matter is NBA has passed Mike Woodson as far as metrics, youth players needing development A. thru E. (All above)
Mike Woodson is his own worst enemy playing favorites and REFUSAL to change and try somethings out the Box.

Example during use of C.Aldrich and few young guys in T.Murray, Tyler when whole Knick frontline was out /hurt
NY got some results and few wins.

no one gonna feel sorry for Woody a nice guy away from NBA courts.

His stubborness and refuse to go away from "OLD concepts" is his devise!

Wouldn't read to much into that. Woodson has said "it's on me" so many times this season, it's pretty much lost it's effect. The bottom line is that while he was pretty bad, the players were as well. The internal problems to start the season doomed the team from the get go.

I am not a blame the coach type in general, although I really can't quite figure out Woodson's performance. I agree, the issues seem more systemic in nature and flowed from the top down. But there were some staggeringly bone-headed plays from the players. Did they happen because they weren't coached properly in-game? Or were they the type of mistakes that a coach isn't going to expect professionals playing at this level to do?

Does anyone even think JR ever read one scouting report this year? And he was one of the better players, eventually.
