(1) Revisit the trade deadline proposal with Oklahoma City: Shumpert for their 1st round pick (#30).

(2) Revisit the trade proposals with the LA Clippers:

- Shumpert for Collison/Bullock.
- Collison/Willie Green (then waive/decline team option opening up his roster spot?) and pick 57.
- Shumpert/cash for Matt Barnes or Willie Green and pick 28.

(3) Shumpert to Milwaukee for picks 31 & 36. Good way of turning Shumpert into 2 rotation guards: a PG and a 2G maybe.

(4) Shumpert to Philadelphia for picks 32 and 39.

(5) Shumpert to Atlanta for Mike Muscala/Dennis Schroeder or Mike Scott/Shelvin Mack and pick 41.

(6) Chandler & Shumpert to New Orleans for a package built around most of these components: Tyreke Evans/Luke Babbitt/Alexis Ajinça/the rights to Pierre Jackson/pick 40/cash considerations.

(7) Shumpert to Cleveland for a choice of either Alonzo Gee or Scotty Hopson and pick 33.

(8) Shumpert to Sacramento for Quincy Acy/Ray McCallum, cash and pick 37.

(9) Shumpert to Washington for a choice of either Kevin Seraphin or Trevor Booker, a resigned Glen Rice Jr. and pick 47.

Not sure if Phil will be looking to trade Shumpert or not --- we shall see.

If he is --- I still like the Collison/Bullock deal the best.

Both can defend ---- Collison can handle & Bullock can shoot ---- two things Shump can't do .

Only a handful of games left to do it. Hopefully Shump rises to the occasion -- either enough where we feel good about moving forward with him or enough to the point where he improves his value. Tried to be realistic and fair but I think I may have overshot some of these ideas in the Knicks favor, even on some of the weaker scenarios -- maybe we could get Washington to bite on that proposal but it's not even that great a deal for us. Some of these others--the Sacramento & Cleveland scenarios in particular aren't unbelievable in terms of return either but if I'm either one of those teams, I think I'd rather keep my assets. Tough call -- we can't give him away but then on the other side, I can't picture many of these teams surrendering what I asked for in return. We very well might wind up keeping him. I remember reading that Phil liked him. He really regressed hard this year; so hard that he may have minimal value now. Some of these ideas we heard about at the deadline for Shump may not be on the table anymore.. Still, he remains one of our better assets to deal into this draft with (outside of THJ), not that that's saying a whole lot..We'll see...

He isn't going anywhere. Phil likes him. I think Shump really improved at end of season and Phil has plans for him. Heard Shump is rated 3rd best defensive guard in league. Phil loves that stuff plus Phil likes big guards
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

It all depends on how you see the game. If you focus solely on his scoring you overlook everything else

Meanwhile THJ is elevated to superstar talent because all he does is score. No defense, no rebounding

I see the game and I see an inconsistent defender who just now started to play a little better. Has he learned how to defend without fouling? Is he still getting beat back door? Is he still getting lost on screens? Shump is still a work in progress as a defender.

Who elevated THJ to superstar talent?

The reason THJ has a higher ceiling than Shump. It is believed scoring is harder to learn than defense. Defense is all effort and scoring is more a natural talent.

The best options for us involve moving him for picks. They are low risk, how reward ventures that we need to start valuing and investing in.

I'd love for us to pick up Muscala and Schroder for him but I think that is unrealistic given the talent disparity involved. Schroder is going to be a starting PG in this league, which ,incidentally, might make Jeff Teague available. I'm skeptical that Shumpert and filler could get it done though. And to be honest, if we're taking on that much salary, we might as well pursue Eric Bledsoe in a sign and trade. We should've traded Shumpert for him, eons ago.

The number one fantasy trade for me involving Shumpert would involve both him and Melo to the Bulls for Carlos Boozer, Jimmy Butler, Nikola Mirotic, Jimmer Fredette and their 16th and 19th picks.

I'm not knocking THJ he has a role on a team that is so Melo centric but I will always side with the guy who can play lockdown defense with the potential to improve offensively. Good shooting comes and goes as Mr. earl said the other day defense and effort is forever. You need guys like Shumpert to win. Especially when you are a horrible defensive team as is. You are better off with players who are capable of shutting down one of the opposing teams best weapons than a player who just trades baskets. That's how you impact games and wins

Who on this team gives consistent effort defensively? Put a system in place where guys who are cap able of defending excel. Don't know if THJ will ever exel defensively but there will always be a place for his offensive spark. Need a system and accountability

Defense is a team effort. Bad defensive teams negate capable lock down defenders. This is why great teams are after Shumpert. They already have a great defensive system in place with the players they have. They look for guys who they not only can get to buy into playing defense but guys who take pride in becoming superior defenders. Sometimes it's the difference between winning and losing

Great teams went after Ronnie Brewer. I agree with you though on every thing else unless you are considering Shump as a lock down defender.

I think most of us believe his value is significantly lower than it was when he was defending the league's elite wing players at a very high level. There is a reason OKC and LAC wanted him. I think it would be beyond insane to trade him for pocket lint or a washing machine. Maybe he never hits that level again but good to great teams are interested in him and there is a reason for it, and that reason ain't because you know better than those teams and/or those teams are dumb
