Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert was reportedly benched on Sunday against Atlanta for coming out of halftime late. The Pacers' recent struggles, meanwhile, could lead president Larry Bird to fire coach Frank Vogel before the postseason.

Hibbert logged only nine minutes in Indiana's 107-88 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, and he didn't play at all during the second half. His seat on the bench for the whole second half was because he watched a "King of the Hill" promo during halftime and came out late, according to Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star.

"Hibbert was watching 'King of the Hill' promo while teammates focused in," Buckner tweeted on Sunday. "Very, very poor body language from one of the 'leaders' of this (team)."

Buckner described the promo as "a bit featuring George (and) Solomon Hill."

Sunday's blowout marked Indiana's eighth loss in 11 games, putting them at a 20-18 record after beginning the season 33-7. As their season continues to spiral, Vogel's job security could reportedly come into question.

While Bob Kravitz of The Star notes he doesn't think Vogel will get the axe, he does point out Vogel was never Bird's favorite choice to be coach.

Per Kravitz:

"But know this: Vogel is not Larry Bird's guy.

"Bird was hesitant to fire Jim O'Brien in the first place, and even after Vogel turned the team around and got them to play competitively in the playoffs against the Chicago Bulls, it took a couple of months before Bird was willing to give Vogel the full-time job. If you remember, Bird wanted Vogel to hire a big-time, experience assistant, specifically Brian Shaw, before giving him the job.

"Remember, too, that in mid-March, Bird took a swipe at Vogel during a four-game losing streaking, opining that Vogel wasn't hard enough on his team at times. Vogel said the comments didn't bother him; I'm not convinced that's the truth."

If Vogel were to be fired, Kravitz writes the interim job could go to assistant Nate McMillan or Bird himself could take over for the postseason.

Vogel canceled practice for Monday, according to Buckner.

Indiana (53-25) visits the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

How do you fire this guy this season. Man Knicks wouldn't even fire knucklehead Woodson after missing the playoffs in a laughingstock year

Coaches seem to have the shortest leash in this league- they go from coach of the year to fired in the blink of an eye.

What goes around comes around. The guy was too smug for my liking and was out of line criticizing Woodson in the playoffs.

Can't stand the guy
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

I think it had more to do with the deng trade. Thins wants to win and management made a wait till next year move. Also, dEng is a tremendous player and respected vet.

He has proven himself after the Deng trade but it was pretty choppy then. Coaches can go from hot to cold and vice versa in a blink.

I will reserve judgment until the playoffs when the "Hibbert rules" truly activate.

+2 he's a smug prick. Nothing wrong with thinking it but saying it to the media was a total dick move. He's one of those guys who thinks they are always the smartest person in the room and is always sure to let everyone know....

Finally the dirt on the Pacers lil version of JVG is coming out. Another assistant coach who got to much credit too soon.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

It also transferred over to his team that's why they beat us in the playoffs. He's a good coach.

Woodson is over matched and confused. Un excusable for a coach with his resume. Same could be said of this knick team. Players are a reflection of the coach.

I would love Vogel to coach this team. I think the Knicks on the other hand need to get a guy here that will coach a style that fits his players with the ability to make adjustments. Woodson can't do that.

Vogel is smug but if he was our coach the Team would be a smug ******* just like him and we'd be 3rd best team in the conference.
