Big fan of this kid. i was a fan of his when he was in college and happy we drafted him. hated his father growing up because he always went off on the Knicks. I think hardaway Jr is the steal of the 2013 draft. Look we all know that the 2013 draft class was weak and he was a late round pick but he has been one of teh best rookies. Obviously he needs to work on his defense and getting his assist/rebound numbers up but his scoring will get even better. I also like his attitude he is a good kid who also has a will to compete(as we saw last ngiht playing on a sparined ankle) One of the best bright sports on a tough season

Looks like a keeper.

Would like to see a bit more shooting consistency.

His defense looked a bit better lately.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

he's not doing anything other than scoring....we need him to contribute to the game other ways too especially when he's off

JR said he was the hardest working rookie he has been around in his ten years in the nba. Also, he isn't getting lit up by guys like he was right after the all star break.

I like Shump and Hardaway off the bench. Jr Smith is such an ******* but the dude has been playing so good as the lead guard. If this guy could only keep this up the rest of his career.... The way things are running is how it always should have been. Guys would have developed better throughout the season

Yeah JR has been great but it wasn't that long ago that he wasn't shooting in a game to prove a point etc. JR has been talking like he is a leader on the team and maybe he is maturing. It would be nice. He is a 10 year vet.

Thjr has also been showing some really nice mid range as of late creating his own shot. His defense has really improved as well... He's well on his way to becoming a top 2 guard in this league.

Allan Houston. very similar games. Houston would put the ball on the floor like he was attacking the rim and pull up and bury those mid range shots. THjr isnt as strong as H2O was, but he's more athletic. I see a lot of flashes of a young Houston and thats a good thing... he was a great scorer

I don't think we can expect anything else from him at this point. He is going to just be a streak shooter/scorer as a rookie and will have to improve in other areas on a year over year basis. I will expect some new things from him starting next season.

When and if he starts doing other things really well, he will be traded in short order for Rudy Gay's expiring.

We can draft well halfway decent mildy promisingly again! Maybe this is the start of a new Knicks trend!

he's a very exciting player. he does things that give you tingles. when he figures it out, and I think its in his dna....he's going to be a monster.

I don't see Allan Houston because Allan could pass and also post up.

I still see Rolando Blackman and Cuttino Mobley. Regardless bro, this kid is on the right track. He has the motor and killer instinct to get better. That gene passed along from his dad. There is no denying that

THjr also doesn't seem to have that innate ability to almost always disappear/evaporate for long stretches in the second half of games, or does no one remember that about H20?

yeah Houston would be quite invisible for long stretches and at the end of games he'd have 20pts and we'd be like when did he do that? 25pts one night and 8pts the next with the same impact, lol.....I remember...I have the medical bills to back it up

I was thinking of how Houston used to juke guys thinking he would shoot the 3, take a dribble and pull up for mid-long two and drain it like he was practicing FTs. I hear you in diff players... just was thinking about how H20 used the threat of his jumper to catch guys in the air. Both have a silky smooth release and before his knees when to crap H20 had a nice tough finishing around the basket. Then he got old, maxed out and everyone hated him. He was great before that contract and the knees.

Anyway I was a bit down on THjr earlier this year but he's really showed me some heart and desire to improve on everything.

I definitely remember that all too well. As much as i loved Houston, no one pulled disappearing acts like he did.

his release reminds me of reggie millers. also reminds me of reggie when he uses his 3 point threat to fake out his opponent take a few dribbles and drain the mid range. two things thjr can do better is his penatration to the hoop and transition game two things reggie was never really good at. if he can become the defender reggie was, watch out!

Yup, fourth quarters weren't his strong suit. Its why that runner against Miami in the playoffs was such a big deal. THJ relishes big game moments, Houston shied away from too many.

he also seems to have the clutch ability in his sole like miller had

If he gets very good at being a defender, he is an all star.
Guess that isn't so hard to believe, lots of guys fly under the radar, but to do this in his first year so far, wow!
I think his defense will get better with more muscle (and experience of course.) He is a smart guy and will adjust. Surprised his defense isn't better considering his pedigree though...
