The least of the bunch makes a lot of sense. Rambis has the contrast of success as a role hustle player (a trait of many successful coaches), success as an assistant, and failure of a head coach. There are many coaches who did not succeed and later became very good coaches. Being the coach under Khan and having to bank on Jonny flynn to be the leader of triangle as a rookie is not a good idea. Maybe rambis thougth it was a good opportunity and would have some time.
He learned. Maybe a better fit than some others.
Joe Torre had some failure before he figured it out. SOmetimes its the Ownership and management that makes all the difference.
