Jones, an undrafted rookie from West Virginia who split time between Canton and Cleveland last season, asked for and received a buyout.

"We would like to thank Kevin for all of the hard work and dedication he showed over his two seasons here with the Charge," said Mike Gansey, the Cavs director of development league operations. "He is a talented player, great person and we wish him the best of luck in his decision to go play overseas."

Jones was a 2013-14 NBA D-League All-Star with Canton, averaging 16.9 points on .505 shooting with 8.0 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per game. The Charge will retain Jones’ player rights in the D-League for the next two seasons.

Feel bad for this guy. He, Onuaku, and Gutierez formed a big three and were all nba prospects for Canton. Gutierez and Onuaku got signed by nba clubs but he didn't. Too bad for him. Seems like he has the size and talent to play in the nba.

This is the 2nd above average PF that I know of that left the DL for the Philippines -- 6'8" Richard Howell is the other. Next year I'd really like us to carry an extra young PF -- don't want Martin back and I want something in addition to STAT and Tyler (who I'm not sold on). I'd gladly sign up for Jones, Howell or Jamelle Hagins right now. Jackie Carlmichael & Trevor Mbakwe are two more interesting possibilities...Really like Jones' game -- he won't be a star in the NBA but he can definitely help a team -- he rebounds, he hustles and he's a pretty solid jump-shooter for a PF with range..

Looking at more video of Devin Ebanks before -- man do I love his game. More of a SF, this dude's just a natural, versatile scoring force. Very skilled on that end of the floor...Remember him at West Virginia, I thought he was good for the Lakers and he looks even better now--looks like he's really worked on his game...Scores it so effortlessly/confidently...I can't understand how nobody's giving this kid a chance. He can help any NBA team right now, even a contender. No doubt about it...I see some Trevor Ariza, Caron Butler (bigger), Rashad Lewis, dare I say a little Carmelo Anthony/Kevin Durant. I think he's easily something close to Trevor Ariza/Danny Granger in the NBA (and those are 2 pretty good players), maybe better..I'd love to sign this kid up for next year. Heck, I'd cut Martin loose and sign this kid right now for the rest of the season. Why not? What's the point in keeping Martin around this long? I don't get it. He should've been let go weeks ago and a younger big with upside should've been signed in his place...I'm telling ya man -- there's a lot we can do on the cheap to reshape this roster next year if nothing else really works out. A TON of possibilites. Here's hoping we give this route (taking a chance on some cheap young upside players at various positions) some serious consideration for next year's team..

Live in the Philippines and Howell is a rebounding beast. Not much of a scorer, but rebounds the ball very well.

Kevin Jones will be playing this week, will keep an eye on him.

Yeah definitely on Howell -- just saw he had 30 rebounds in a game the other day. Wow. He's not the biggest, not the quickest but he's a great rebounder and a lot more skilled offensively than he's given credit for. Compares very favorably to DeJuan Blair -- slightly taller than Blair but with that same husky build, similar fluid/polished skills on the block attacking the basket with either hand, the knack for rebounding, etc...Kevin Jones brings similar things to the table plus a jumper with more range... Just not sure on Jeremy Tyler -- I wish he was playing more so we could get a better feel. Making that one final push for a playoff spot now so he'll continue to get sporadic mins but ideally, I wish he was playing more. Honestly, if I needed a 4 man right now -- I take either Howell or Jones over Tyler myself. I just feel they're each more polished and their skills are more advanced than Tyler's at this point.
