so if phil jax does indeed accept the presidency of the knicks, one would assume he'd be bringing a coach that runs the triangle offense. the triangle is obviously great for melo, the structure of the offense should help his efficiency and it can be easily run through him, but what about other guys?

Honestly, how can you possibly be upset (assuming it's true) that Dolan is ready to give up control over basketball related decision making? That tidbit alone makes me want to cream my jeans. I don't care if it's Phil Jackson or Samuel L Jackson, if Dolan is a glorified check writer, I'm happy.

No it would be Jordan Pippen Kukoc or Shaq Kobe etc

I don't see him keeping the triangle unless he has players who are on that level.

Well he might try but it won't work.

I just hope he hires a coach that can coach any team and get the most of of his players. A coach with high basketball IQ

We thought this when we brought in Larry Brown. Dolan's stink will always cloud the team

Steal one from Isola. All it takes is one quote by Phil to Harvey Araton to set Dolan off on another tirade

Yeah, I remember all that. At this point all we can do is hope this time it's different. It's either that or hope that somehow Dolan and crew somehow luck out and land the next Lebron manage to put together a good team via the starphuck. Either way, you're hoping and wishing for something and id rather hope that if this Jackson hire goes through he actually does have autonomy because that's a better scenario with a better chance for success than the other option I mentioned, for sure.

The triangle requires having someone who can pass.

We can't really say just what PJax will be able to do or not. I just think it's important to have a legit BB mind who is a level headed and mature decision maker in charge. Can't doubt his ability to reach people and get buy in, which is a huge part of job. Who else could we get that has the same clout around the league and championship pedigree? We're the laughing stock of the league right now and with PJax you get instant respect when he calls another GM or Agent. It makes a difference who's on the other end of the phone.

The Triangle and who the coach will be is actually less important than having a top to bottom vision being executed. It's more important to have cohesion in the franchise and smart decisions being made. More important to have a solid philosophy and long term plan to execute that philosophy. I just think it's all possible if you have great leadership at the top.

I wanted the Knicks to hire Brian Shaw as an assistant coach, 2 seasons ago, to help run the triangle. It's a great system for a team like ours that has little to no PG talent. Also, it could help take Melo out of gunner mode and force him think "pass" more often to create better ball movement. We'd need to add more shooters and defensive players but I think that the triangle would be ideal for our core personnel.

this would be a very interesting choice - good call. hoiberg has been great with iowa state, they are a very efficient team both offensively and defensively.

kevin love would probably make for a nice addition to the triangle, even though im not thrilled with paying him max money.

I do think he will make some coaching changes, with players/ex coaches that knows his philosophy
And this could mean all positions from Head Coach, Assistant coaches, and development coaches, (though Hopla could stay because he is a great shooting coach)
I would not be surprised if Steve Kerr would be brought in for the GM position along with Ron Harper as either an assistant or development coach
Did Fred Hoiberg run the triangle with Phil in Lakers or Bulls? I think he is the Head Coach in College for Iowa right now....

The Triangle and Phil have shown the ability to develop players along with making ROLE players better with their system
Of course Phil always had DOMINANT players in their prime though, which we don't currently have
Melo is a great scorer but he isn't a DOMINANT force, though he can score in bunches
STAT could be highly efficient but I wouldn't consider him dominant either

I wonder if any other ex players or coaching staff that Phil would likely target in his staff...

Fisher if retired
Pippen (though he is part of the Bulls staff)
Brian Shaw if fired or a mutual release *he doesn't have any of the pieces in Denver to run the triangle*

agreed, I think Love and Aldridge should be our #1 targets in 2015

Also Phil loves BIG PG's that could shoot

For this draft I think both of Briggs picks in Delon Wright (though he could be in next seasons draft) and DeAndre Kane (is a Senior and is not even currently projected to be drafted)
are both great fits and part of our needs, with their size, they would be able to play some SG like Lilliard does as well
While they both have great size, they are not combo guards, they are LEGIT PG's, while Burton is more of a combo/scoring PG with supreme athleticism, explosiveness, strength, and quickness/speed
