Or did the Knicks miss a good chance to sell high?

i was with you on that fish. i made a detailed post somewhere along the way. all timmy does is catch and shoot and play on the fastbreak. he can't create his own shot, he cant play defense and he doesn't really do anything besides shoot. i woulda sold high.. i wasn't that high on him coming out of michigan anyways.

There is still a chance for that to happen. Improvements are made in the offseason. The problem is that the Knicks are not good at developing young talent.

I think the kid is the real deal. Team is in turmoil, he clearly HATES to lose and there is that rookie wall thing. I would think the losing and distractions affect the youngest players the most. With his work ethic, I expect him to come back stronger next season.

all players play much better in a winning environment. though I think shumpert was always overrated based on his career offensive numbers. Unfortunately people believe they should trust their gut or eyes over advance stats and it looks like advance stats don't lie (for the most part)

looks like teams will start moving in this direction, and, players will now start to care about efficiency since it will be the true gauge of their value

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I think he can be the next Ray Allen or H20. I see the talent and it is there what I also see is that Knicks are a tough organization to develop in because the atmosphere is so toxic. I also think that Hardaway Jr should be praying that he gets traded from here. I'm going to blame Dolan and the Media for the toxic environment. That's right the Media they build the players up to tear them down.

Ray Allen could play point. THJR had a basic shooting guard handle.
To add.... Allan Houston was a very good one on one player. Thjr is not there yet.

Don't sleep but the dude is very similar to Rolando Blackman or Cuttino Mobley. That's fan good and that's all we need going forward at shooting guard.

I suspect some dont recall Ray Allen before Boston....he was much more than a shooter, and hardaway cant even touch him on just that.

no comparison at all.

He is just another player trying to make it in this league...Let's stop trying to make our young players all world players...He can shoot but there are more to basketball than just shooting, ask Novak...First game this season, Breen ask Clyde if he thinks Shump can make the all star team..Clyde was stumped and didn't know how to answer...Let these kids learn and earn their way, they don't need the added pressure of expectations that NY brings...

If you look at Ray Allen's stats from his rookie year you will see that THJ is right there.

The Knicks really need to bring in a developmental specialist or two. They also need to have a developmental staff hired for their new d league franchise. Hopefully they use it the right way. It seems like they burned some bridges with Erie. Their number one prospect was traded for a second round d league pick right after the knicks announced they were doing the deal at the county center.
