No matter what people say in the media or here--keeping Carmelo and changing the rest of the team would be the best move. If we can trade Shump and Chandler for two 1's in this draft--bring in a Patty Mills for the MLE--we can set up much better for 2015. I wouldnt even care about the W -L. With a new set of PG's bringing back Amare Bargs maybe if we can grab an Aaron Gordon out of the drfat a young PG to go with an improved THJ

Guys that HAVE to go--bad seeds or terrible players fo this team

Shumpert(why in the hell did they not take a pick from OKC???? moronic>>??) J R S,mith--hes a ****ing looney bird Felton--played out done Chandler--done hell be good still somewhere else

No one is taking Stoudemire and Bargs--atleast not yet--so if we can get some youth out of the draft--we can certainly work with it for a year.

This is the way Id go the way Id sell Melo--Im not talking about 2015 with Rondo or Love BS absolute crp lies... I want to make the team faster younger more athletci right now--change the culture in this offseason. We can make this a fun exciting team for Melo--and we can be a lot better if we forward think. If Dolan is selling starphicking--it wont Melo will read it and leave.

So Melo's going to be making close to $30 mil per for his 12th to 16th seasons? No thanks.
If Dolan couldn't build a team around Melo the past 4 years, why would you think he could do that with a much older, higher paid version of Melo?

melo does not deserve a good team unless he asks for 12-13 million per. it's a fool's errand otherwise.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Move A is hiring a great basketball mind to run the organization with complete autonomy.

move A is for Dolan to un-sign himself from making a mockery of this franchise by being a part of it.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

Briggs - I want to agree. I think Melo has been fantastic this year.

But the cap number is real. Our flexibility, or lack there of, will be real.

And Melo's age and minutes logged are real, and going to catch up with him.

We simply don't have enough assets in the short term to resign Melo and be on the road to an increasingly competitive team.

We might erase this year from memory, but I don't see us getting back to the 50 win production within the lifetime of Melo's resigned, maxed out Knick deal, should that happen.

I agree we are probably not going any where with Dolan involved.

The problem with attempting to keep Melo and build thru the draft is I don't think Melo will stick around for that. I think if we want to keep Melo we will have to convince him he will have a quality veteran team around him in 2015. I don't see him staying while we try to build thru the draft.

Move A is hiring a coach with stature who won't cower before Dolan, and will have big input on the roster (Only way to negate Mills)

the only reason would be poor management. It can certainly be done.

if you guys sign melo...you need to scrap 2015 and do the following:

move amare for gordon + evans.
move bargs + thjr for larry sanders.
move tyson for bench depth.

Nope Im not forcing trades at all. I would try to get into this draft for 2 young players to add to THJ moving Shumpert and Chandler. Use the full MLE on Patty Mills try to trade felton and Smith for ending contracts and be patient and opportunistic. Make tghis team younger more athletic to go around melo.

There is no A move.

The Knicks never understand value.

Melo for Blake could have got done. We waited now we are in a tailspin.

Chandler has value, perceived in my opinion but we could have gotten rebuilding pieces. Fail.

Shumpert had value. Now he has none.

The Knicks never look at role players. Nate Robinson for a year or Smith for three? No brainer.

Barnes, Collison, Bellinelli, blacte there are a ton of guys that would have been productive players.

This sums up our organization. Everyone understood that Amare with melo and chandler doesn't mix. So they essentially went out and got a big as bad on defense that shoots 3 pointers at a below average clip and rebounds like a point guard. Compound that they gave up a first round pick. Unbelievable.

There is no move A. This team sucks. Will always suck and will always manage to ruin basketball

Only way Melo should comeback us if he takes less. No way should the Knicks entertain a max deal.

I think you could swap out our FO for San Antonios - with the present assets, cap room, draft picks - near term (e.g., next 2-3 years) there isn't enough to turn Melo & filler into anything other than what we have right now. Maybe you can squeek into the play offs again. But are we going to challenge for a second round series? I don't think see.

What we need is

a sustainable business model

and to build up chemistry leadership and hunger.

We need to speed up our pace--we need to play faster--im not overly obsessed with a rim protector--although its good to have one. A set of new guards who are diverse speedy and or long athletic with different skill sets---frontcourt players who play above the rim and defend. Guys who can shoot the rock from every position. No bad history guys. Good PGs make other players better--get guys better shots. I see a few people complaining about THJ already--accept hes a rookie and he is having his ups and downs. With a year of WT and better PGs who can push the pace--everyone who is left will improve. I don't want to lose Carmelo--but we cant sell him the BS of a certain FA well get in 2016. Melo--were going to play a faster uptempo style of play--not MDAS ball but faster. Were going to get younger and within 2 years we will be competing for a championship we can get it done--stay away from old players--trade off Chandler and Shumpert for 2 2015#1's get Mills be opportunistic then we can do it again in 2015 we can get our own draft pick maybe trade for another and than big FA 3 #1 picks 2-3 free agents change this team wide around quick. But keep Melo to a 5 year 105- CT Dolan needs to promise to keep out of it a swell

Melo's not sticking around here for no rebuilding project, cmon dude lets get real.

He needs a real savvy pg, some heady vets and some men that are about there business..yeah you can throw in a few prospects too, but this roster needs to be structured around smart vets (similar to last yr) that won't break down..

Those young kids will have there time..Melo is about his business all the way around, you can't sell star vets on bringing in young boys so they can have an exciting team, sell that to some player on his second contract, not there 4th....

We have to start by getting a coach that has a damn plan and knows how to get the best out of his players..woodson is no better then byron scott, give them a great pg and there all good, give them a team where they actually have to coach and their clueless

Plan A should've been trade Melo before the trade deadline. But, yeah, sign him if you can, convince him we're going to do something, do nothing, suck next year but let him sell tickets, get a good pick, and trade him for youth and picks, dump JR and Felton, let the other contracts expire, and start with a clean slate in 2015.

We should of traded him for picks 2 but now there is no other choice. This team could've been rebuilt in 1 offseason had we traded Melo, Chandler and Shumpert. We would of been horrible in 2015 and got a top 5 pick plus the other picks and roughly 40 million in cap space. Oh well that was the forward thinking we needed. Instead I will just hate Basketball until Dolan is gone

Its not just the money. He's played remarkably hard this year, compliments to him. HOwever - there are no assets in cap space or pick to 'build around him', and, much more importantly, what evidence is there that he can or will be able to work with others? Amare/MDA/Lin - all were ignored, or rebuffed.
We keep forgetting pre-injury how bad rthe chemistry was with Amare. Melo insisted ball go through him, no accomodation to MDA/Amare....... whose to say he would with any other star (even if they could get them here?)

Both parties would be better off with him elsewhere.

Melo and Amare played well together dude. It wasn't til Tyson Chandler came that Amare didn't fit anymore.

Everything in moderation. Even moderation.
