He is averaging 26pts/13boards this season and he plays PF. I understand he brings a lot of hustle but is he the answer next to Melo?

I think our backcourt would still be a huge issue. Our guys can't knock down shots consistently. How will he impact Melo since we seem to use Melo at the PF a lot? Does Love become our center? I don't know much about love but I am not sure he is the key to the Knicks turning things around.

Can someone enlighten me? Will his game mesh with Melo or will we have another Stat issue where their games don't thrive when the are on the court together?

We need to make sure we are targeting the right guys, not just the best available who will require max contracts.

My point is - this is what the media is drumming up. Is he really our 2015 target and does signing him make sense? Assuming he would come here.

love is a really nice player but he's never even guided his own team into the playoffs. i know his stats look awesome, but i just think there is something missing there... i dunno.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I mean he is a nice player but his team is eh. Could have inflated stats, might not mesh well with certain playing styles etc.

I just don't want to see this team pull another Amare - we need to target building a cohesive team that can put up points and defend. The last thing we need to do is try to sign the too FA just to make a splash and tie up 70% of our cap space in 2 players leaving nothing to fill out the roster.

absolutely agree.. the one thing i hope we definitely do is go after players that havent even gotten into their prime yet. let's go the other way for once. amar'e (had to be signed i know) was on his way down, carmelo already had a million miles on his body, chandler the same. im tired of getting guys in their primes or on their out of their prime.

Love won't really help us now. We must now get rid of everyone who don't play defense thats the first thing. Focus on not allowing anyone driving to the basket or shooting 3 pointers. Damn I just can't understand that after preaching to this team about defense the whole season they still make the same mistakes.

KLove is from LA and played ball at UCLA..Lakers will be on his case when he is available..But as far as matching with Melo, what's intreguing to me is that they both can play inside out effectively..They can be tough for any team to guard..Both rebound well and can drain the three at a relatively high percentage..I would love to see someone help take the scoring pressure off Melo but again Love is a longshot..

Love is actually from Oregon. I actually think the best thing would be to get a 3 to play next to Melo. Aflallo would be great. Someone who can take advantage of being guarded by a 4.

Melo excels as a PF, Love is a PF. Locking the vast majority of our money on two fours would be inane. This team will go nowhere without a quality 1 and 2.

I think ESPN had it right ranking both as top 20 players. I'm sure this would give us a nice team but not a contender. We'd probably be locked into 5 years of being a 2nd round playoff team.

Instead of trying to sign the next big name, the Knicks brass needs to look at signing good two-way players....We do not need to load up on offensive machines if they give it right back on the defensive end. Haven't watch Love carefully enough to tell how good of a defender he is or isn't, but if the plan is to keep Melo, then we need to add the right pieces (two-way players) around him.

but we'd have no cap space or picks to do that with

people here think Melo is a playoff loser.. he's been good enough to get his team in every year as his team's best player. Whats Love done?

If MDA was running this team and we had a PG watching a Melo and Love frontcourt would be fun, but hardly see Love as a guy who would be on the radar. Everyone in the league assumes he's a Laker

I wonder if we can extend Melo's contract, therefore he keeps his 23.5m contract for next year
For 2015, he takes less at 15m or so, in 2016, his contract bumps back up to 20m+

We need a PF/C like Aldridge or Love in addition to another impact player at either PG like Dragic or a versatile G/F or/and SF/PF like Jeff Green/Thad Young
In addition to using the MLE this summer, hopefully buy some 2nd rounders this year, finding many quality young vet min players with 2 year to get early bird rights for beyond 2015
We cannot build around 1 or 2 FA's and build a contender with all the holes we have

Why would we bring in Kevin Love to play next to Melo when they're both power forwards? If you want to build around Melo you need to look at centers and point guards, not power forwards.

As much as Love's game is solid on offense how is he defensively. With that said I will pass on Love next to Melo and concentrate on Al Horford next to Melo. He plays defense bring a similar approach as Noah.

I love the idea of buying picks and it comes up every year around draft time. But we never do it - so I don't really see that as part of a viable solution.

I can't even remember the last time it happened.

Walsh bought the Laker's pick and grabbed Douglas. It didnt work out but it was a great move philosophy wise. ACC defensive player of the year... he could have been a good backup PG. First we asked too much then he couldnt get healthy, but it was a very solid move IMO from the standpoint of team building
