Has Shumpert been poisoned? JR is no better this year. THJ is next. I've never seen such a poisonous team environment. This is on par with the Isiah Knicks. Maybe worst!

Everyone kills Shumpert? How is JR doing?

Shumpert plays his ass off on both ends. The shots are not falling and his confidence is shot but I attribute that to the poisonous environment set by the coach, his star player and the FO

It's not a coincidence every single guard on this team is having the worst year of their careers

Shumpert needs to be put at the 2 and kept there and stop being jerked Around. We need his perimeter defense heading into the future. Under a new system

At least part of why they're having their worst years is that they're old. Offensively, Shumpert's stats are not that different from his career. His 2 point shot is about the same as last year and is a disaster (.392 vs. .399 - never heard of an NBA regular making 39% of his 2s.). His 3 pointers returned to a more normal area. He made over 40% of them last year but is at 35% this year.
JR maybe aging, injury/surgery, and drugs.
Felon - aging, injury, weight.
Pablo I think is playing like a respectable backup.

Shumpert would flourish playing for the clips, okc spurs and bulls but I rather him flourish here under a real NBA system

How? He can't make mid range jump shots and he can't finish near the rim. If you want him to flourish, send him to the NBDL

JR can't either but he was once capable of hitting a shot. Shump was our best player last years playoffs

Yeah, Iman's 3s were at an unsustainable 43% in the playoffs last year. His 2 pointers were still .390! Unless you're the best 3 pointer shooter in the nation, you're not going to last in the NBA making 39% of your 2 point shots.

How would you feel if after performing so better to keep Woodson to ensure we win the lottery next yearwell in the playoffs the owner has it out for you. Then they draft another SG probably to spite you. Then the SG who is responsible for ruining your playoff hopes because he was too busy partying is rewarded with a bigger contract than you. And then the coach says he may start over you while serving a suspension! And not only that but they sign his brother. Another SG!

How do you thing you would handle all that???
Fuck this team!

Bonn what were Bruce bowen, Matt Barnes and Trevor Ariza's shooting percentages their first 3 years in the league?

Bowen was a disaster on offense his whole career but lasted because he was a DPOY on the other end. Shumpert played great defense for half a season but otherwise hasn't resembled Bowen. Barnes made 49% of his 2s in his 1st 3 yrs. Ariza made 48% of them. Being in the 390s on 2s is almost unprecedented. Even guys known for being awful on offense rarely come close to that.

You're acting like this is something new for Shumpert but his #s are pretty similar to his whole career. You gotta stop viewing this year as an exception for Shumpert IMO. You posed the question in the title, and I'm saying looking at the data, I think the answer is yes.

SOB, you actually looked it up? lol

So worst case scenario we potentially have a Bruce Bowen on our hands? I will take him over JR Smith anyday

Shumpert isn't as athletic above the rim as Ariza was but he is a better 3pt shooter early in their careers. Ariza was great at running the floor and finishing above the rim. Barnes barely played early on. Another young knick buried on the bench who made a career for himself elsewhere

I think Shump and THJ is a perfect duo. With THJ providing scoring off the bench and eventually working on his D and rebounding. Ying & Yang. I still don't understand why we brought JR back and why this coach continues to show him love

Shumpert isn't that good. Another missed opportunity to sell high on an asset by New York. This one may even be worse than FIelds considering they really could have gotten something for him.

I think the worst case scenario is we have Bruce Bowen without the defense!
And of course I looked it up. Did you expect anything less?

bro, shumpert isn't that good.. his numbers this year are very similar to what he's done for his career. he's athletic and that's all that you see. he can't shoot, he can't finish at the rim and his defense isn't nearly as good as it was year 1 and 2. and oh yeah, he's injury prone. get over shumpert. he's not FLOURISHING anywhere until he improves his jumpshot, which might not ever happen.

Yes, Virginia, Shumpert is this bad. And so is JR. And so is THJr (albeit he's a rook).
As a wise man has said more than once, Coach don't shoot.

Oh, and Cole is obviously really that bad, too.

At this point the Knicks have a bunch of players that want to jump off the ship.

I think its premature to write Shump off.

I'd want to get a new coach in here just so we could see what we have in terms of talent, who is worth holding on to, who should be cut.

Is Shumpert really this bad? What about JR and co?
