@sheridanhoops: Joakim Noah had 14 assists yesterday for #Bulls, who have won 21 of 29. Players on other teams are taking notice. - Chris Sheridan
Better to give than receive. When your big man can dish out 14 assists, that informs us that the Bulls play team basketball. Our beloved Knicks are an assemblage of solo acts. One virtuoso, and the remainder a mixed bag of guys who play with their eyes on the hoop.
On defense, the same applies. There is no collective responsibility for defending. It is not the strategy, but the mental focus to communicate via body language and verbal commands, and committed to protecting the paint and the perimeter.
In one example from last season, having Rasheed Wallace to constantly banter with his running buddies, whether he was on the court or not, was not entertainment. His constant chatter forced everyone to lock in on the action. He held teammates responsible for paying attention at all times. He made casual observers laugh. Reporters missed it totally.
Ball don't lie.
We need to start over with a general manager who can implement a playing personality derived from a mission statement based on team play. Individual acts are not encouraged.
2015 cannot get here soon enough.
