This page does not cut and paste well here but take a look at this link and the roster of management on this team:
http://www.nba.com/knicks/news/team-directory

I have read how we don't have any basketball people in management.

Well, we actually have 2 former exec's of the year:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/eoy.html

Mills has plenty of basketball people on the staff. Im not sure how much Dolan listens to them and its quite possible that bringing in Mills and the hiring of McKinsey could yield a better future if we suspect is true that Dolan makes too many basketball decisions. In all fairness I think Mills had to go after AnuchaGate as somebody's head had to roll but it was not a basketball related issue.

Might want to revisit this times article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/27/sports/basketball/steve-mills-returns-to-knicks-replacing-grunwald.html?_r=0

Am I happy with the performance of the team? Of course not. Does Mills really have the GM title regarding basketball matters? Not really, he is MSG President.

This is the guy Dolan bought in after Checketts was ousted and the place was a mess. My take is he is either a total moron getting paid way too much but he was enroute to be a likely head of the NBA union which is why dolan tapped him. Perhaps the only bit of encouragement is he comes back on his terms and my take is the one who hired McKinsey to bring order to the organization, a third party assessment to demonstrate Dolan's emotionality based decisions don't serve the organization, that could include Allan Houstan.

Knicks also seemed to have employed "metrics" to measure players as some teams seem to fair well with this. I hope McKinsey would suggest that the personnel and decision making regarding players be receptive and qualified to work in this manner.

Change like this takes time and really its just been a few months since this all was put in place. I doubt MSG will be transparent with their moves and findings. Demanding verbal accountability won't be something we as fans will get to share.

Bottom line: Fans just want a better product on the floor either by old school "Red Auerbach" type scouting and roster construction or some formulaic process that reduces emotional content from the owner. There might be evidence this is taking form but I doubt we should expect any results until after the season. Including a decision on a coach, and perhaps a more visible GM type who can discuss the roster a bit.
