lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

the bottom line is every year 3-4 guys totally slip through the cracks, while others just dont catch on until they are in the right situation.

Brad Miller was undrafted and NO didnt even resign him after they had him. Ben Wallace undrafted. Mark Blount, same type of situation. These are guys that just hung around and were late bloomers. Yes it happens (unless its the Knicks according to BRIGGS)

Then you have guys that fall into round 2 that you could have if you wanted. Gilbert Arenas, Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels, Okur, Ginobobili, Lampe, bla bla bla... if you have an eye for talent, the $$$ to advance scout and a little luck you can go a long way by getting a couple of these type players.

Who had a better draft then Dallas? They got Josh Howard and Daniels with the 29 pick and an undrafted FA.

A project? 25? and when can we expect the development into a player? at age 30?

Sage,

Look at a guy like Ben Wallace today. I'm sure he mytified coaches and talent evaluators with his apparent lack of development, but on the other hand was able to become the hardest working guy defensively on any team he was on.

Every team needs the role players who will defend, rebound, and intimidate. Who is that type of player on the Knicks right now? If this guy is strong enough to put two guys in the hospital just making pace in the lane, then he'd change our entire team defense.

The draft is usually about drafting the best guys who have the most upside on the offensive side of the ball. So if you can snag a guy in the 2nd round for his defense, you do it, because you can use that contrarian strategy and get the best defensive player in the draft.

Was Ben Wallace even drafted? Bruce Bowen? I realize we'd like a SG in the draft like Romain Sato, but if he isn't there, Isiah could do a lot worse than to draft this guy. Defense wins. No rebounds no rings. Insert cliche here.

And as a 6'11" 275lb defender, you can be a lot more developed and ready to contribute to a team than as a Jared Jefferies beanpole type tweener.

Ben Wallace was a proven pro by the age of 24 playing a full season and was a shot blocker and rebounder. Take a look at hs stats. Pure defensive players are rarely top draft picks. This guy is a project at 25 whereas Wallace was well on his way to all star at the same age. No comparison-case closed.

What are you talking about? Do you only know sports cliches?

Wallace- "Proven Pro" -

He is NOW because he got a chance.

Sebastiao- "Project" -

define how you're using "project" ~ when it comes to a defender/rebounder, those are tools. not projections. I said "project" was a mostly offensive term. Ben Wallace is still a project in offensive terms.''

"case-closed" -

Are you a lawyer or do you just get a rush from saying "case closed" as in you've seized the final word, Good for you , BRAVO for closing the case!
