Seriously. I see rumors we signed Brown because his wife is friends with La la. Now I don't know how true that is but what has CAA been able to do for NYK? Melo is opting out, nobody else (and I don't know who they represent) is taking. Less to play here, so what exactly is Dolan getting out if it?

He and his **** awful band get to open for The Eagles. Way more important than trying to win a championship!

Seriously guys, if anyone hasn't been paying attention this is the answer right here. CAA reps The Eagles and when they went on tour recently Li'l Jimmy Dolan's band got to open for them.

That is pretty sad

also incredibly true. I never thought about it like that before but, yes, Jimmy D wants to be represented like he's an A-lister. What a brilliant strategy by the CAA guys. We are screwwwwwwwwwwwwwwed

I asked this of DJ a while back and his answer made sense to me but I can't remember the exact details. Something like CAA influences other sorts of businesses that Dolan has interest in that may not involve the Knicks. MSG and the Knicks make a boatload of money whether they are winning or not, it's outside interests where they help Dolan.

That is why it sucks that MSG owns the team. You almost wish that another owner owned the Knicks and leased MSG arena. Unfortunately for us fans we have an owner that owns the toilet bowl and he is the shyt that floats in it.

CAA is everywhere... the sports part is a money maker but a small part of their biz. If you run an arena like MSG, CAA is a good partner to be in bed with. The hoops part hasnt helped us one bit.

anyone else watch "The Profit" on CNBC? Business is about people, process, product. I don't think it's coincidence MSG's stock valuation doubled when the Rangers and Knicks were both looking like they could make noise.

But there were better people, better process, and certainly a better product then. Now? I guess Jimmy D is looking at the short term and okay with letting market share erode to the Nyets

I wish the NBA would step in and force Dolan to sell the team. I know it won't happen but it is getting seriously bad. I think all you need to see is that when the league stepped in and forced Walsh upon the Knicks, the team improved and started to have winning seasons. As soon as he left (and some of his moves have not paid off in the long term - but Dolan supposedly impacted the Melo trade) the Knicks are back in the cellar.

one thing with the CAA thing... if they can make a case that CAA and Dolan's other interests are affecting his ability to manage the Knicks he could get ousted.

That being said it would probably get worse. Dolan is the kind of guy who will say "ok go run the team, but here's the budget and Im not going over the cap"

You could see it....

he would never become cheap ... he takes pride in over-spending... it's the one thing he can do that makes others envious.

Nothing- an agency can't honestly represent so many different personal and still look out for each individual members conflicting interests and make promises to the Knicks. It's ridiculous to think it will get us anything other than maybe passed it players signing for the minimum when all their options dry up.

Yep, specifically Dolan's one true love, music. Take a look at their wikipedia page. They, supposedly, dominate the music touring business and have apparently won 10 straight Booking Agency of the Year awards.
