![]() Exclusive: Udrih and World Peace Expose Tough Life With Knicks
By Mike Kurylo - Published: 02/26/2014 - 8 Comments Two people have escaped one of the toughest, secretive, and well guarded areas on Earth. Like North Korea, the Knicks organization (aka M.S.G.) has closed off relations to the outside world, and much of what happens behind the scenes is a mystery to the public. Their leader, James L. Dolan, has been a reclusive character who has only spoken to the press on the most rare occasions. He inherited his current position from his father, and it doesn’t seem that anyone can remove his iron fist grasp on the Knicks. Recently James L. Dolan ejected his once trusted right-hand man, Glen Grunwald, who bolstered the organization with mediocre decision making. People who threaten the Knicks’ leader, are dealt with by the police. Unlike North Korea, Dennis Rodman has not been able to gain inroads with this mysterious owner. Probably because the organization has turned a blind eye to both public relations and defense. However two people have recently escaped the clutches of M.S.G., and have painted a gruesome tale of life behind the concrete curtain. Beno Udrih and Metta World Peace were inexplicably released before the team’s final demise in 2014. These are their first-hand reports of what is actually happening inside the Knicks organization. [WARNING: THE DESCRIPTIONS AND IMAGES BELOW MAY BE DISTURBING.] “It was horrible” said Udrih. “We were forced to watch the most torturous display of basketball for 2-3 hours straight. That whole time I had to watch a fat guy dribble a ball around, while we were on the bench starving for minutes. I was forced to sit next to a giant hulking idiot with a tooth missing. Every now and then we had to stand around in a circle, hoping the coach would choose us to play meaningful minutes, but that opportunity almost never came.”
Drawings Reveal The Horror! The survivors tell tales of the stark division between the haves and the have-nots. “Some players can drink all night,” described Udrih “and yet still get major playing time the next day while the rest of us are compelled to sit. Even on a Sunday matinee game. On the other hand if I had one turnover, I get a tongue lashing in front of thousands of people.” He tearfully added “I can’t get the memories of those 20 foot step back jumpers out of my head.” “Mentally it was rough on me,” offered Metta World Peace. “Watching players just blow past our defenders from the perimeter filled me with shame. Coach would tell our guys to switch on defense in order to confuse the opponent, but that just made things worse.”
DETAILS OF THE DEFENSIVE SCHEME Even though the two were able to escape, their future remains uncertain. Lamented Udrih, “We’ve been scarred by our time there, and now our careers are tainted. Who knows if any team will ever give us real minutes again?”
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
