Hello fellow Knickolodeons. I responded to another post with views/rant, but it needs its own thread. Recapping that post and expanding on it. If you don't like reading, I suggest moving to the next thread.
Recap portion:
"I'd rather have THJ out there scoring and giving up points, then clowns like Shump & Felton not scoring and giving up points. In the first scenario we stay in the game with a chance to win, in the other, we fall too far behind to catch up and lose for sure.
Pick your poison, I choose THJ.
Another point, because I need to vent. Watching this depressing team all year, why not start JR at the point? There are certain games he doesn't try to score at all, but dishes well and the team succeeds. Run him with THJ, Melo, Tyler, and leave TC in for some rebounds/dunks, and hopefully blocks. Shump/Felton/Amare/Prigs and hopefully Martin on the bench is solid.
Use MWP/Toure/Uhrih or dump them. There are enough energy nate robinson types in the D league to spark a bench and replace JR's scoring on the bench. Coaching, sure players need to execute, but Woody has been horrible. His call playing, stubbornness/loyalty to vets, lack of calling time outs before the game gets out of hand, and terrible offensive schemes, needs to go or stop. Hire a D'Antoni type to run offense already. Prigs can not be the starting PG with his age and lack of offensive confidence, though I love his effort and heart.
This team is like groundhog day, the same trashy b-flick game after game. As a diehard Knicks fan since the early 80s, I keep hoping for that wake up and spark, but lately it is pretty unwatchable. 6th seed is our only hope to avoid complete embarrassment and I think that ship has sailed with amount of games left and lack of moves to get better.
There was no reason not to at least dump Uhrih and/or MWP, maybe Shump. Why play him the last game before the deadline when he was the biggest chip we were willing to give up? We could have picked up a solid defender and a Bobby Brown type. I like that we didn't do more rash moves and compromise the future, but minor deals were there to be had. We dropped the ball on that one and the mediocrity will continue to season's end, be it missing the playoffs or 1st round exit".
Expansion portion:
Melo can't really complain, other than minutes, about the state of this team. Nor should he leave us dry. He can't expect the team to be replenished of talent he depleted to get here or refused to work with. His job would be much easier with an offensive coach to take care of that side of the ball and let Woody stick to D. I feel Woody is overextended and lost, with no answers coming around the corner.
We were so insistent on getting MWP and Uhrih, as steal deal prices, but why if we do not use them? MWP was hurt and Uhrih was out of shape, still is. No burn will not improve either.
Aldrich is a garage time player in my opinion. A bench/roster filler. Toure is probably at this point a defensive switch late in the game.
Obviously, health has been a major hit all season. Yes, teams all deal with injuries, but this team's case is worse than most. Which makes it hard on a coach. But, the rotation needs to be finally set and limited to 8 or 9, 10 max. That will provide some consistency and cohesion.
I'll take Bobby Brown, Toure Murry, and Ike Diogu, over MWP/Uhrih/Aldrich 7 days a week.
In conclusion, this team is flawed in so many areas. The only way to have a slightly successful season, but with the same results as last year, is to get the 6th seed. Which is 95% not happening. With a lost season, don't wear and tear on Melo if he is the Knicks future. Get the young core bigger minutes. Evaluate and possible raise the value of them. Move Shump in the off season, cut the dead weight. Get an offensive minded assistant coach who is proven. Have a realistic plan for the 2015 spending spree, which MUST have Melo signing for a bargain.
Melo(back at the 3)/Love or Aldridge/Rondo sounds great, maybe a pipe dream. But that kind of core can compete and win against most if not all teams. Being successful in the playoffs must be the future to make this team fun and watchable again. What a difference a year makes. Later.
