“I like everyone on our ballclub. But at the end of the day, Steve (Mills, the team president and GM) and I will sit down, along with Mr. Dolan, and the guys who make the decisions. And if they think there’s something worthy, then I’m sure we’ll do something. And if not, we’ll sit tight with what we’ve got and try to figure it out from there."

Making decisions by committee is the fatal flaw of the NYK business model.

It comes in handy when drafting players even then they have a tendency to overthink their picks and pass up on a great player to a decent one

It gets messy when the time comes to set a direction and a plan and each guy has a different plan in mind. There should be 1 trusted NBA mind mapping out the Knicks future and not through a vacuum like Walsh. They should anticipate obstacles and have plan a b & c in place

No more foiling plans with every individual move

Trade every asset to clear cap
Sign Amare
Lose Lebron
Trade ever asset for Melo
Amnesty billups not Amare
Sign Tyson not Paul
Trade picks for Camby & bargnani
Sign Lin and lose him
Sign Copeland without protection
Hire Dantoni and never draft a PG
Hire Woodson and get him a fat pg

Alright now my fingers hurt

its a new front office.. this is their first big test right? Lets see how they perform. Everyone knows there is going to be a lot of activity. Lets see what happens. Hell, I gave Scott Layden a wait and see...

Who is our actual GM? Mills?

Mister,

Indy is not just Larry. Kev Pritchard was personal director and got promoted to GM.

Owners are always part of the process, even the good ones. Jerry Buss for years was in on it. Donald sterling for the bad and the good of late.

No owner lets a man spend tens of millions without consent.

Agreed. I mean Dolan, my God -- hire an expert to take care of all of this for Christ's sake, like you hired expert musicians for your band. You're not qualified my dude; neither is Mills. Man, I wish we had Grunwald back ready to make these phone calls. Why was this guy let go again? Someone remind me... My #1 guy continues to be Tom Penn. Whatever he lacks in long-term experience (he does have some experience btw -- worked 8 yrs as an asst. GM/legal council for Memphis and then served as Kevin Prichard's right-hand man in Portland), he makes up for it with smarts & savvy. And he's available -- that's the key...Currently, he works part-time for ESPN as a draft/trade/cap analyst. It's not like he's tied to some other team...The man's impressive -- I'd be willing to bet he'd want back in the NBA as a chief exec. I'd give him the keys to the bus over here and let him got to work.

Exactly. It's not too many chefs. It's that the head chef is serving us crap (and too many people are buying it)

Anybody ask Dolan if his desire is try and model the approach of the 90's teams that had gutty players who would fight for the orange and blue and coach who would run through a wall for the team.

Hire Lou Carnasescca.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
