since it seems isiah wants to get in the first round of the draft, and because it looks like we need to start grooming a replacement at sg (houston's knees are giving out, penny's over the hill, shandon is bad, and it appears frank isnt big enough for the 2), i think the knicks should look at trying to trade for josh childress. he's a smart, long, athletic player with a good shot and who knows how to hit the boards. i think his game would go wel with marbury TT sweetney and nazr in a few years.
thoughts?

Childress seems like it'll take a few years before he'd be ready to get an erection....forget about a player.

In any rate.....I'd welcome anybody that could help now. I don't know if he could right away.

I feel you though. Maybe Isiah wants to do like he did in Indiana so he could fully develop talent on the low while all the vets are getting most of the playing time.

IT has said in the papers that the draft was not the way he wanted to improve the team. IMHO, players like M Daniels, G Wallace, J Richardson (who seems available with the emergence of Peitrus) would be my first choice. Daniels and Wallace aren't the most accurate shooters and Richardson slacks on D.

Daniels could be packaged in a sign and trade with walker for KT, Anderson, but that probably won't happen (even though it would help Dallas on D).

G Wallace for F Williams works straight up, but giving up Frank this early ...

Richardson could possibly come in this elaborate and unrealistic:

real gm trade # 1590758

Golden State trades: SG Jason Richardson (18.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.9 apg in 37.6 minutes)
C Erick Dampier (12.3 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 32.5 minutes)
Golden State receives: PF Mike Sweetney (4.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.8 minutes)
PF Othella Harrington (4.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.6 minutes)
C Nazr Mohammed (7.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 20.1 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -14.7 ppg, -5.9 rpg, and -2.4 apg.

New York trades: PF Mike Sweetney (4.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.8 minutes)
PF Othella Harrington (4.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.6 minutes)
C Nazr Mohammed (7.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 20.1 minutes)
New York receives: SG Jason Richardson (18.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.9 apg in 78 games)
C Erick Dampier (12.3 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 74 games)
Change in team outlook: +14.7 ppg, +5.9 rpg, and +2.4 apg.

Why GS would do it:
Richardson is a tradable asset not that Pietrus (the french Artest) is starting to develope. Dampier will opt out, and does not want to return. Mohammed will give them the center they need to replace him, Sweetney will compensate for the loss of rebounds, and Harrington is an expiring contract.

Why NY would do it:
Dampier is much stronger, athletic, and more dominant than Mohammed. J Richardson would alleviate the scoring load, by spreading the floor (great 3 points shooter) and able to run on the fast break with the best of them (2 time slam dunk champ).

absolute typical ny knick fan post

lets see why doesnt GS give us their starting C and franchise SG for role players? I know why! because GS was put in the nBA to make NY better! proof--L Sprewell for mills a washed up starks and somebody else!
Nazr====PF not C that we got for cheap
Harrington= role player FW-indecisive guard that showed a few moments over 2 years.

i will only do this if GS throws in pick 10 and gives the knicks 3mm$

Briggs, agreed, man. Amen. Knicks fans need to stop thinking about how we can take advantage of stupid teams who probably don't realize what they've got and go after what we can actually attain.

Why would Golden State trade with the Knicks? Why wouldn't they ship Dampier to Memphis for Stromile Swift and Bonzi Wells? And then turn around and trade JRich for a young center? Why would they take our crap? Cap room? What are you talking about? When they made that stupid trade for Van Exel, it got them out of Jamison's ridiculous contract and Van Exel was coming off a fantastic playoff run. Why would GS take ANY of our crap? It's not like, as well as Frank played in the playoffs, he helped the NYK WIN a single, solitary GAME. Come on, guys.

Let's not get too carried away there crazydumps,
with Frank as our starter the Knicks were 5-0.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

1. If Briggs would actually take the 10 seconds to read the post, as well as you, you would see that F Williams wasn't even mentioned in the GS trade idea, but a 1 for 1 for G Wallace of Sac....

2. I simply looked at a scenario (I even called it elaborate and unrealistic) that would work under the cap. Tell me, Briggs or crzy, what is so wrong with speculation?

Develop into something?
9 times out of ten what you see is what you get.

Micheal Redd is an exception. Redd practiced his jumper and is now an all-star. It's rare but Childress doesn't seem like he has that type of charecter. Same as Jared Jefferies.

Childress needs alot more than just a jumpshot.
Jared Jefferies has moves but who's gonna teach him to h

I dunno....
That's the whole point why we're here. I see them getting on Briggs too about the same thing.

Point is we all have opinions. That's why we come here.

from what i see josh lacks the most, and i mean MOST! is weight. he does have a good outside shot, and he's athletic. not to mention the fact that he can handle the ball extremely well for his size.
not jeffries, more along the lines of maybe teyshawn prince. bare in mind fellas, this kid carried stanford to that record. would'nt mind that pick-up at all.

yeah that's what i meant by having the potential to develop...he can put on some more weight and i think he could be something good...definitely someone to take over for houston as a 3rd option or maybe 2nd. Plus with allan and penny i think he would have good guidance. and he's got excellent height/court vision/basketball IQ.
