![]() Everybody knows it's off limits for a player in college to touch anyone in the stands because of something they said to you. Now in my opinion he really didn't go far into the sands he was already there.
Also Smart had just had an adrenaline rush to attempt to block a shot and landed in the stands knowing he was called for a foul with 6 sec left and they were down. How do you turn off the intensity off that quickly and then being provoked simultaneously ? Smart says Mr Orr called him the N-Word, Orr says he called him a piece of crap. When you look at the clip, what was said to make Smart turn around abruptly like he did ? Then what did Mr Orr say to Smart when they were face to face and Smart pushed him. Looks like to me there was 2 separate comments one that made him get up so quickly and the comment when they were face to face. What Smart did shouldn't happen, but a teenager losing his cool in the middle of an upset game is not as bad a look as a grown man 45-50 yrs old who is so abusive at college games that players remember him years later. ![]() i have a real problem with this jackass fan calling any collegiate a "piece of crap" if that's what he actually called smart anyway. you wish smart would have shown restraint, but i can't say i wouldn't have had the same reaction, given the heat of the moment. i have no problem with smart.

![]() My biggest problem is the lack of attention being paid to how many fans think buying a ticket allows them to say whatever they want to a player. This was a grown man saying something like this a 19(?) year old kid! Ridiculous...
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

![]() SupremeCommander wrote:Orr apparently did this to another player 2 years ago. I think Marcus earned the suspension but I don't necessarily think it means a great deal either. Unfortunately the Knicks don't have a pick because Smart would probably fall to them after this Smart definitely won't fall in the draft because of this. Everyone knows what he did didn't show any type of character flaws because anyone else would have reacted in a similar manner. That being said, I think it's a shame that Smart has to go thru the motions of apologizing to this piece of scum and is expected to be the bigger man despite being one third the age of the instigator. But that's the culture. |

![]() The guy is an ass and I would hope there were enough in the stands to witness any other statement then what he admits to.
"piece of crap" in the heat of the moment is pretty bad and I really think its pretty lame to yell at any athlete regardless of age. While spike lee is not really abusive the guy thinks at times he is on the floor. Its pretty funny some of these guys really get into it. They guys spends a ton of money on the games and thats what fuels the game. remember the bimbo who gave Noah the finger in Miami? fans just lose it. |

![]() My interpretation is that we shouldn't read too much into this. I don't blame Smart for his reaction but I do hope he learns to handle himself better and accepts the 3 game suspension. So long as Orr doesn't try to out-douche himself and pursue assault charges, I think that the story should be ended ASAP.

![]() I don't think the media is revealing there were two things said by Jeff Orr. One comment was so offensive it made Marcus Smart jump up and turn around, the second comment made Smart push Jeff Orr.
The media doesn't mention what Orr said to Smart initially "Go back to Africa n*****"
Ok good did you say something bad to him, why did he push you ? Glad you are ok. Yea I kinda let my mouth say something I shouldn't have said. I feel bad.

![]() I have no problem with what Smart did- he got justifiably angry at abuse directed at him. Perfectly natural response- it's not like he beat the 'fan' up, he just pushed him. Pushing someone who crosses the line and abuses you is fine in my book. It's easy to say if he had no emotions he shouldn't have done it, but he's not a robot.
