He's built and plays like a Wade but 3-4 inches shorter

Shooting seems like a problem. You think his game will translate into the NBA?

When you are as fast powerful and athletic as Juwan from the PG position--you're going to get a chance to play basketball at the next level.

Great, I hope we can add him with one of our later picks.

earth--this is the best PG draft in a LONG time-- the draft is strong at spots 1-10(the overall not the PG) or so--then it becomes VERY deep on PG's well into round 2 players with 1st round talent. I think its possible we could buy/trade into this draft in late 1 and early 2 and atleast get 1 PG if not 2. We really need to concentrate on this position and get it right. You have multiple different PGs with different skill sets speed size athleticism and leadership ability--its a PG market galore. Well have to see the final list of who comes out and then Ill do a write up and kind of give each persons + or - I just saw Staten play for this first time this year last night--I saw him last year against Uconn and he did not stick out. Hes very quick and strong. If Wade is 6-3 this guys maybe 5-11 or so---hes very strong and fast---maybe a good comparison would be Beldsoe that kind of speed. Has not developed a 3 pt shot yet but you cant teach what he has physically.

PGs like Staten--who can rebound and then play fast and strong--help make team score easier break down the defense and speed up transition--all weaknesses of our team.

BRIGGS, can this guy realistically work in the NBA? The way it is, Wade is 6'3 and plays SG which is cause he needs to carry a lot of the offensive load. Can this guy play PG at 5'11?

5-11 is normal size for a PG the guy dunks like Russel Westbrook

Don't get me wrong, I trust your words. Like most here, I just have no faith in the front office here.
We had a great PG in Lin and we went with Felton. And now we have traded away most of our picks (none in this draft) and we are hoping management
buys a pick in a heavily talented draft. I don't think other teams like us much and will help, but I can hope.
Not to be a downer, but really, we get talent falling into our lap like Lin, now Tyler and THJr and we have a chance IN SPITE of Dolans actions.
I really hope we are able to get a pick in this draft for a PG. I'd be ecstatic with Jackson over Felton actually.

Louisville's

Russ Smith?

Physical Abilities include
SPEED/QUICKNESS and athleticism, despite being very scrawny he is strong with length

Skills include
Penetration and ability to finish, he fits in the smallest cracks

I don't mind this kid or Burton *though Burton reminds me of a YOUNG Raymond Felton on steroids with super athleticism*

but

I wish we could also add Pierre Jackson in the off season with limited assets
because of where he was selected I don't think he can get a 3 year deal vs a 2 year deal, that would enable us to have him be part of our roster after 2015 summer to resign him for keeps

Then there is the MLE we can use to cover a position, there are quite a lot of adequate PG's, all upgrades over our entire roster

Sessions
Bayless
Darren Collison

just to name a few

Not sold on Russ as a distributor at the NBA level. What do you guys think of Shabazz Napier? I wasn't sold on him at the start of the season, but his game is growing on me.

I dont think Napier would be a right choice for us--he'll be a solid late 1 or early 2 for some other club who need his particular skills. What we need is speed and athleticism. We need to be able to play the game faster and it all starts at PG. I do not think we have one PG on the roster who can speed the game up or even be the head of the dragon on defense. We don't need a player who gets 14 assists--we need a player who can play tough on ball d be able to really move up and down the court-be a leader --have the ability to break guys off the dribble and have all of the assets shooting scoring at the rim low TO % the whole 9 yards--a hard worker who comes to play every night hard. A guy who keeps himself in shape etc... We are playing with 4 back up PG's who all should go. We need to start new at that position and rethink how we evaluate that position.

He isn't GREAT but he did play > Great, more importantly the team played GREAT
While his team mates were not very talented, they performed better than when they were lead by our MAX "ALL STAR's"
Surprisingly we were also one of the top defensive teams, that was one biggest reason why we were winning during his first couple weeks as a starter
Yes, he does has weakness's and he does has to further develop his game, But he is young, he still has potential, he can still get better, and he made players around him better

His team mates were able to play off his abilities and the ball was constantly moving, we were constantly attacking as a team
The ball was NEVER stuck to his hands, he always hit the open man and it was contagious, as his combinations of abilities to penetrate/finish/facilitate/create, push the tempo for easy basket and putting pressure on opponents DEF, draw double/triple teams/ break down opponents DEFENSE, all lead to high % shots, many wide open 3pt shots, FT's attempts, and or dunks/layups

Most importantly, we were winning, his team mates were all happy and enjoyed playing with him
He would be by far a reason to be watching the Knicks if he was on the team, with a play off record, and the likelyhood of not handing over a lottery pick and high 2nd rounders for this year and many years we trade away in the upcoming years

No, he can not do it himself, but I do believe he could have been a piece to the puzzle, he is by far an upgrade at PG with our roster with no one to challenge him
I also believe he has leadership qualities to him, something we have been missing

RonRon said it pretty well.
At least add something instead of trying to just be demeaning.
Lin made us so much better in so many ways. He was great for us, the best thing to happen to NY since Ewing.
Yeah, he isn't "great" per say, but for us, he was INCREDIBLE.
