Anthony led the Eastern Conference in scoring (28.7 ppg), ranked ninth in rebounding (9.0 rpg) and third in minutes (37.7 mpg) as he led the Knicks to a 10-6 (.625) record, which included four straight wins to close the month. He ranked sixth in the league with a .494 shooting percentage from distance, and made 44 made three-point field goals. Anthony recorded five point-rebound double-doubles, and topped the 25-point mark in 12-of-16 games. He set a Knicks franchise record, Madison Square Garden single-game record

Funny.. the article doesnt mention MElo's inability to get Felton and Shumpert to play better

I actually thought about that... I have mixed feelings. Mostly because I see only one of two scenarions with this front office:
1)Overpay to keep Melo and spend the next 5 years losing in the first round because of years like this when its clear the FO has no clue how to do anything
2)Trade Melo for a nice fat package which may or may not yield us players as good as another round of Gallo/Chandler/Frye/Lee while we win 25 games a year

actually only #1 makes sense. Knicks franchise value has really jumped in the last few years since Melo got here. No way Dolan jeapordizes that

I would prefer to keep Melo. However, Phoenix is dying for a star and they have tons of young assets and picks. I went to a bachelor party in Paradise Valley, AZ and it would be insanely awesome to be a max-paid guy there. Mrs. Honey Nut would like it there

I don't see how #1 makes any sense - at least not if you want a great team. Maybe for Dolan's money it's the easiest way to proceed. Not sure if that's what you meant.

I think it makes a ton of sense if the organization has any desire to build a program. In other words, it makes a lot of sense for almost every other franchise. I think option two makes even less sense for the Knicks though because I have literally no faith in the Knicks developing young players

If I got what I want Lin would be the starting PG. #1 makes perfect sense for Dolan. Then he can always entice fans with the "we are playoff team and dedicated to improving to compete for a title" even though anyone with eyes knows he too stupid for such a feat

another thing to take note of bonn, Denver which has had a better front office than us for years tried to build around carmelo, and they could only muster getting out of the first round once in all of those years.. It just may be too difficult to build around a guy whose style isn't conducive to cohesive team play.... so yea, for a much less competent front office like ours, it will be damn near impossible...

Who says 1st round is guaranteed anyway? It looks like they can't do that this year and next year's probably going to be an older version of this same core.

fish, instead of bating with lies, why not do this.. just come to terms that you are a flip flopper.. you flip flopped, it backfired and you are upset I called you on it.. since that day you have been trying oh so hard to get back at me, and really it not only fails miserably, but it comes off as childish.... Because you know you will never find anywhere where I said felton was my favorite player.. but this is just another losing tactic.. I mean why even post that? what purpose does that serve? ROFL....

I think if you look in the mirror, say to yourself " I , fishmike, am a flip flopper"... you then can get on the road to recovery..

right now it looks like I am all in your head, and it is not a good look for you, at all...

it isnt, but you look at history and Melo's teams always have wining records and make the playoffs. He also tends to have massive springs... we have seen some pretty incredible Mar/April play from him each year as a Knick, so look at a year like this, when Fat Felton and the rest of the Knick guards are shooting <40% and giving up 17ppg combined to their counterparts as about as bad as it can get, and yes.. I STILL expect the Knicks to make the playoffs and even have a + .500 record.

Thats what history shows.

Would be nice to do beter, but with this ownership?

Flip - losing

Flip - Denver's brilliant front office built to win whenever they want
Flop - Denver's front office is stupid because of Melo

By the way, #2 sure sounds like fun, doesn't it?

Funny, Melo wins Player of the month, but he's nothing to build around.

jrod, anyone can put up 30/10 over a month in the NBA... you just need to take a ton of shots. Shocking no other NBA players have realized this.

actually only #1 makes sense. Knicks franchise value has really jumped in the last few years since Melo got here. No way Dolan jeapordizes that

Well, yeah, I have literally no faith in the Knicks organization to do anything (including build around Melo).

fair enough... I guess I just prefer taking the first round exits because its better than praying the Knicks fumble their way into a create young nucleus

as for the bold, +1

Who says 1st round is guaranteed anyway? It looks like they can't do that this year and next year's probably going to be an older version of this same core.
it isnt, but you look at history and Melo's teams always have wining records and make the playoffs.

So basically, lets tie up the next 5 years in mediocrity paying carmelo 30 mil a year, hoping we don't have any more bad years from fat felton, bad knees amare, or any other lapses aka(scapegoats), because you have no faith in management..

well by doing that, you are certainly guaranteeing that we won't be contenders any time soon..

but here is another thought...

let him walk and get better organically... You think we will suck.. ok, then we should have been and should be holding on to our picks... I know the front office is not good, but if we are drafting studs, either on purpose with good scouting or by accident, I doubt dolan would just blow that up.. you would have to hope that from his dealing with the carmelo issue, he would be gun shy when it comes to giving up asset in trades high priced, all star players...

In other words, the knicks can just get better despite the incompetency of dolan..

But asking this front office to build a team around a guy making 30 mil who is already hard to build around is asking way too much.. so why even take that route?.. it is hard enough for even the better, more competent front offices to do such a thing....

If you are happy with repeats of "history" as you call it, that is caremelo has a history of getting to the playoffs and losing in the first round, then that is your right, be happy...... I and I hope others, have higher standards....
