Whoa...

Ok so I know we trash our team for not making moves and Erie had been bad all year too.

They recently traded or picked up (too lazy to look that up) 5'10" pg Lewis Jackson and 6'8" small fwd Micah Downs. Jackson put up 2 10 assist games with good scoring in between the Murry appearance. Downs has been scoring very well in his 2 games for Erie so far.

This is Downs (not with erie here)

Here's Jackson:

I haven't watched their games but I have checked their box scores. Both guys have been putting up numbers. Downs is another one of those guys that was very highly rated coming out of high school and then had a disappointing/non spectacular college career. I think he is tall and long for the two guard position. I don't know a lot about Jackson but it makes sense that they go with a young guy versus the vet they had at the point earlier in the year. Also, Leslie has been putting up big numbers. Leslie is a freak athelete and was one of the top rated prospects in his class coming out of high school. Hopefully he can become consistent and make it with the big club. He seems like the type of player that would excel in a running system. Would love to see the Knicks have a second unit that really pushed the ball.

Leslie hasn't started in a while. His numbers are up and down and pretty lack luster. He's can't shoot the 3 at all either.

Downs seems like a good spot up three-point shooter and good finisher. Not sure why he didn't score more in college. I don't know if he's a pro, but at least the roster is getting stocked with solid players. Jackson is a waterbug. But you gotta worry about a 5'9" guy who can't shoot the three.

Downs surprised me with the splitting of the defense in the clip and his athleticism. I wish I could catch a game one day.

Anybody with more insight?

Jackson is shooting the 3 pretty decent in the d league.

Also I think Downs has been doing more than spotting up

Yeah, it's hard to play a wing who shoot.s 20 percent from three. The plus side is that he's averaging nearly a block and a steal in about 25 minutes a game. He'd have a spot on a NBA roster if he could just hit a corner three. Reminds me of a young Trevor Ariza.

i think you can watch the games on you tube at any time. I have tried watching and usually make it for 10 minutes. Also, I think Chris smith hasn't gotten any minutes in the past couple of games.

Keith Schlosser (Knicks journal) wrote a article on Downs for Ridiculous Upside when the Bayhawks first acquired Downs. Among other things, he was a d l all star last year. Here is the link:

Another big game for Leslie. Bayhawks lost and Downs and Jackson didn't have great box score numbers but Leslie went off for 31 pts tonight. Have to wonder if Leslie will get a call up at some point. I think Leslie and Metta were supposed to be the small forwards for the big line up.
