I just moved the family from the city about a year and a half ago...But I didn't know I'll be having Knick company!!!, Maybe the wife will bake a "big" apple pie for STAT once he builds...Man it's just beautiful up here, can't get enough of it in the Spring and the Fall...

http://pagesix.com/2014/01/31/amare-stoudemire-buys-dutchess-county-farm/

New York Knicks player Amar’e Stoudemire will trade a basketball for a garden hoe in the off-season.

The 7-foot center just bought a 190-acre farm in Hyde Park, Dutchess County, closing on the deal two weeks ago.

We’re told he hasn’t planned what he’ll harvest on the land or if he’ll build a larger home on the property. But Stoudemire bought the place so his family and kids can get together on the weekends, we’re told.

He talks about the farm on a new MSG show “In the Kitchen With,” hosted by Jill Martin, which launches on Feb. 7.

Stoudemire and his personal chef, Max Hardy, are coming out with a book on May 27, “Cooking With Amar’e — 100 Easy Recipes for Pros and Rookies in the Kitchen.”

He's not a friendly dude. Doesn't like to be bothered, keeps to himself from what I've seen and heard from others.

It's nice up there. I haven't been there for a while, but it's a pleasant drive. I think Sebastian Telfair has a crib up there as well.

Lmfao, it's Page Six after all. I'm surprised they decided to write about this at all.

Since when did Amare become a "7 foot center"? Did he have another "growth spurt" like he did a few years ago when he came back from that back injury?

So what are the nice towns to visit up that way without losing a degree of commutability with NYC? Anything good below, say, Beacon? (And when I say good, I mean pleasant but not crazy expensive. And I mean to live, not just a day trip.)
