I was just trying to say Sweetney was at least close to Okafor in terms of talent.

If the Knicks, after a healthy season, cannot get to over 42-40 I'd say start it over. That entails letting the expiring contracts expire and waiting it out for Houston and Anderson (2 seasons) and Penny and TTHomas (1season) to get off the books. I don't think it'd be that bad.

how would we win less games by staying "relativly healthy" (we werent all year), and adding a player we need with the MLE?

Too many hypotheticals. If this current roster stays healthy we win 45 games. If we can sign MArk Blount, Chris Anderson, whoever even better. Ask me again in October.

On a side note Briggs, do you want Isiah to fail? Do you want to see half a decade of 15 win seasons while we hope this years #1 is "the one" ????

Good question fishmike, Briggs is just like a couple of other cats on this other site I moderate, they hate Isaih so they hope the knicks fail, yet the only thing they can scream is rebuilding(which guarantees nothing but losing for a while) and the had we not made the trade cry... Both are getting tired and old. The previous knicks teams sucked azz, period, lampe, milos, eisley, dice were leading this team into the friggin cellar for years... The truth is chances are that the knicks will be a contender with IT than a loser as proposed in briggs post....

it doesnt matter because BRIGGS would rather see us lose 60 games a year until 2010 with a bunch of High School kids.

Speaking of Brad Miller there's another guy. What great asset did the Kings give up to get him?

exactly, if he can't understand that the wolves lost role players and we lost 35 ppg between Houston and TT out of our lineup, then there is no hope of helping Briggs see a point that is clear, plain and simple... He is still hung up on these HS kids while teams like the Bulls, Wizzards and even the clippers are trying to steer away from after years of toiling in the gutter with these same so called can't miss, overhyped, HS Babies!!!

I just hear the same thing over and over again...

Why does Houston have to play 45 minutes a game to help us? If we had him for 20-25 minutes a game against the Nets we probably would have won those two games at MSG. I would be estatic to get him back for 20-25 minutes a night, and I think thats realistic.

Every year major trades are accomplished by teams with little assets. The Kings get Brad Miller, the Mavs get Jamison. What did these teams give up? Yet anytime we talk about Wallace, Dampier, Camby... whoever its always 99.9% impossible.

Last draft BRIGGS said we MUST draft Sweetney, that he could be an anchor in the post for 10-15 years for us. Yet its every OTHER team in the East thats improving while we stay "status quo."

Hey, If LAyden was here and Kurt Thomas for Chris Bosh was our best offer I would be inclined to agree, but that era is over.

Isiah is directly working with Marbury in the offseason. He's already hired coaches just to work with specific players.

You can love prospects all you want but most rookies dont have that big an impact. Lebron couldnt win without a veteran PG in McGinnis. As great as Carmello was Camby and Dre Miller were the just as important.

Did you get the impression Isiah was going to do nothing anyhow?

But I have rose colored glasses.

Alright, first of all (And I know I'm little late on this one):

To compare the Twolves to the Knicks means you are comparing KG to Marbury. Which is not fair. KG was the MVP, Marbury isn't. KG had been on the same team with the same coach for NINE YEARS before getting out of the first round in his EIGHTH TRY. If you take away Spree and Cassell from KG (essentially the same as taking Houston and Thomas away from Marbury), you get what KG had last year - A FIRST ROUND LOSS. Or maybe you get what he had the year before - A FIRST ROUND LOSS. Or maybe you get what he had the year before, etc. Get it?

The whole point of the NBA is building a TEAM. Teams win championships. Jordan didn't win anything until he had Pippen and Grant and Cartwright and Paxson. Hakeem needed Sam Cassell and Clyde (the second time). Marbury needs help. Houston and Tim are good pieces, but we all know they need more. They need more scoring and more defense (who doesn't?).

Also, one last thing. True, Houston only missed 30 games. But they were mostly games where he should have been helping Marbury. Weren't the Knicks something like 11-6 when Marbury and Houston both played? How many games did Marbury, Houston, and Thomas play together? Seven?!? Give this team TIME. They need a camp, they need PATIENCE. I love how everyone impatiently preaches blowing up a team while they are in the midst of rebuilding!!! Rome wasn't built in a day. Or how about this - that team in Indiana wasn't built in a day, neither was that team in New Jersey and neither was that team in Detroit and neither were the Kings. The Spurs got LUCKY and got the best player of this generation of players in a bum year. There is no Duncan coming out anytime soon. The Knicks are building a team the right way. Isiah is still building. Give them time.

TIME, I say.

One of New York greatest assets is the fact that the fans of all sports can be so demanding, but it can also be their downfall. It is ok to be demanding, but not being able to know when to layoff of the demands can be detrimental. We now have a GM who knows how and what to do to bring a winning atmosphere to a team, just sit back and allow the man to do his job.
