They have plenty of draft picks (multiple 1st and 2nd round picks), assets (young players), OK4's expiring, they also have a winning season (predicted to make the playoffs), and they have NO ONE to sit at their games

We have overpaid players and are NOT far from Atlanta division but very far from being contenders and being able to beat the top teams in the East in a 7 games series
Ok4 and a trade exemption, with either throw ins, young players (Bledsoe or Dragic, then the less talented but with potential of players like, Archie Goodwin, Plumlee, Alex Len, and a possible trade exemption to use as well
With THROW ins like Channing Frye, Gereld Green, and Marcus brothers

1st round picks Suns owns
=================================

2014 first round draft pick from Minnesota
Minnesota's 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-13 in 2014, 1-12 in 2015 or 1-12 in 2016;
if
Minnesota has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Phoenix by 2016, then Minnesota will instead convey its 2016 2nd round pick and 2017 2nd round pick to Phoenix [Minnesota-New Orleans-Phoenix, 7/27/2012]

2014 first round draft pick from Washington
Washington's 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-12 in 2014, 1-10 in 2015, 1-10 in 2016, 1-10 in 2017, 1-10 in 2018 or 1-10 in 2019 or unprotected in 2020 [Phoenix-Washington, 10/25/2013]

2014 first round draft pick from Indiana
Indiana's 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-14 in 2014, 1-14 in 2015, 1-14 in 2016, 1-14 in 2017, 1-14 in 2018 or 1-14 in 2019 or unprotected in 2020 [Indiana-Phoenix, 7/28/2013]

2015 first round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-5 in 2015, 1-3 in 2016 or 1-3 in 2017 or unprotected in 2018 [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012]

MWP would probably do wonders with the Sun's team doctors, also probably be to unload some of the players of JR Smith, Felton, Udirh (expiring bench player) and/or Pablo
in addition to Melo and/or Tyson Chandler if they have interest

Also Kmart, Tyler, Murry, one of our SG's, along with the trade exemption from Ronnie Brewer (that we either use or lose by the trade deadline)

They do need a "STAR" if they want to fill those seats, they already have some nice pieces in complimentary players with a winning record already....

and in 2015

We can actually can resign the players that we trade away with CAP SPACE while we look look to fill all of our holes with cap space/MLE, picks, and preserving cap space for 2015 (to build a core of players to build around)

Dolan seems to be unwilling to want to do a trade but a deal like this is exactly what we would in fact need to be able to build a contending team in the NEAR future of 2015
I would also look for Denver to get involved in the trade to get rid of players/assets in this deal as another team if Melo is included *because they own our current 1st rounder this summer with 2nd round picks (every asset makes a difference at this point) and or rotational players with players like Foye/Nate/Andre Miller/ AR, Faried, Wilson Chandler and/or Speights
That would be in the best interest of the Knick's for our future and allow us to tank for the pick in 2015

We should also look to make changes with our coaching staff, including the head coach, assistant coaches, development coaches, and GM to be able to work together and properly build a team TOGETHER

With all this talk from the summer till know about FA with Melo, he either is just posturing for leverage for a NEW DEAL from the Knick's

or

Really wants to join a team that will allow him to contend AND MAKE THE MOST AMOUNT of money *on and off the court combined with endorsements*
He no longer wants to be part of a team that will take a couple more years to possibly contend, he wants to follow the path similar to D12 did with Houston

He doesn't say "WINNING IN NYK"

It is really like Melo at Denver all over again with all these rumors, his agents in CAA uses the media to create hype and buzz to see who has interest and at what price

So that is already a hint that it is one of the above

Which one it is?
Time will tell but regardless it will be at the expense of Dolan, Knick's, and the fans of NYK's...

Sun's have a lot of cap room next season and Detroit could have a nice amount as well, if he is willing SIGN *instead of trade* with a smaller market team to contend, his future would be much brighter on those teams than it would be in NYK because next season we will NOT be contenders regardless if he resigns or not

I honestly believe winning in Syracuse was the WORST thing that hurt the development of MELO in the NBA
It is great to have confidence but he needed to be knocked back down to Earth

$$$ has been his greatest motivator and justifying his value in the league was more important than developing his game and correcting his flaws

Why would PHX trade anyone. Everyone there not named dragic, is on a rookie or LOW COST contract. And they are making the playoffs in a very competitive west. Gerald green is having a great season, picked up for close to nothing...dont need a SG
Dragic is as good as any PG in the league, can go off on any night
the Morris bros have been a pleasant surprise
Frye is their longest tenured player...fan favorite...solid player
Plumlee is playin leps and bounds better than he did in college

Why would they trade for anybody on this team not named carmelo?

I'd personally trade them melo for three first round draft picks and cap relief. It's the kind of move we should be making, but I realize it's not going to happen.
