Papabear Says

Toronto has no choice because they know they can't resign him. The plan would be if he works out we can give him some kind of balloon deal if Melo really likes him. and if not let him walk

The Toronto Raptors remain interested in trading Kyle Lowry despite his strong play and the team's recent surge.

Lowry will be a free agent this offseason and the Raptors prefer a return on an asset they are unlikely to re-sign.

The Raptors have yet to find a team willing to meet their asking price for Lowry.

Lowry is a strong candidate for the All-Star Game.

Shump, Felton, and a 1st SHOULD be enough.

If the raptors wont take that then forget it.

They'd be better off letting him walk. You're asking them to pay $18 mil for a distant first round pick and Shumpert - a guy who looks like a 2nd round pick.

Ask some fans and they say no way do you give up Shump and a pick cuz we could get bob cousy for that.

im with some player movement but this should have been done last month

Toronto is fooling you guys, the Raptors were and still are a very CHEAPorganization. They milk their good players for as long as possible until they give them up. I will be shocked if they sign Lowery long term or he decides to stay there because of their reputation with other NBA STARS.

They have a chance to win the fan base without dolling out max money and will continue to do so.

Toronto has always been about the dollar , not continually winning.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

It will get done once we offer something worthwhile to them.
Put it this way, Felton looks like a league min player. He's probably worth about $2 mil over 3 years. Shumpert? Let's say an early second round pick - also $2 mil over 3 years. So, we're asking them to pay $14 mil for a very distant first round pick. Most teams will only pay about $3 mil for a non-lottery pick in a *current* draft.

Yeah, I threw in some more #s above after you replied. 3 1/2 years of TH jr on a rookie contract would at least make it more reasonable from their perspective. But then we really have no good, discounted rookie contract players. If we're trying to win now and we're committed to keeping Melo at whatever price necessary, as might as well do that trade and have a strong PG to play with Melo though. It's not gonna produce a contender but it would make the games more watchable.

Actually, I just looked at how good Lowry's #s are. .582 TS% and almost a 4:1 assist:To ratio. TH Jr on a rookie contract is a very nice piece but I think you can't even hesitate to do that trade above. I think we could have Melo + Lowry and space for a max FA in 2015.

I would drop Shump in a second knowing that Hardaway is already more polished and better player than chump. I don't think the Knicks have the luxury of developing Shump. He seems to be malcontent and his play is very disappointing.

I like Lowry but he is injured a lot. Misses about 20 games annually. Also, not sure if this is the guy to give up youth cap space and picks for. If the raps are trying to get something for him at the deadline because he is expiring the Knicks should make a reasonable offer. I don't think hardaway should be a part of that but my guess is Ujiri will want him.

Im not willing to give up thjr under no circumstances.

Toronto had no Leverage. So I think we need to stick to the lowest possible deal and that would be Shump and Felton and a future first. If that can't happen then to hell with them

I know Bonn may not like this trade idea but a 3way trade with Portland,Toronto, and NY would be nice if Tyson is valued like reports say he is. Lopez and a 2015 1st would be great. Use that 1st to get lowry. By trading Chandler it alleviates the need for Toronto to take on Felton.

wow, lowry,

guy is a filthy beast

he shoots a better % than melo and he can slash the lanes like a murderer,

he would automatically become the second best scorer next to melo and our only true paint slasher

I would not trade Hardaway but Shump would be a maybe. I like Shump but he has a lot of holes. Also, Lowry is a very good defender which is needed.

As long as Lowry extends and doesnt enter FAgency, I'd have to agree.

Excluding his rookie year, he's averaged 70 games a season. It would be around 72 if 2010-11 wasn't lockout-shortened. That's not ideal but it strikes me as pretty average.

I like Tyson but look at his age and immune system. You'd have to give him up to get Lowry.

That would be a dream. Felton as a starter = no but Lowry as your starter and Felton as your backup would be great. I know he had problems with that in Denver but I doubt he would make wave in Ny considering he would probably not get a starting gig on the open market anyway.

Also, how could Dolan say no to acquiring the healthy Lopez.
