Not sure what the Pelicans are up to -- they trade for this kid Taylor only to turn around and waive him. Why make that trade? It was for cash and the rights to Edin Bavcic, a guy who's been around for awhile yet wasn't even on their 15-man roster. He's been playing in Greece for years. Never came over to the NBA. Not officially part of the Pelicans roster nor was there any salary committed to him...3 elements that could've been used in a future trade are all gone now -- cash (no idea how much of the $3mm), Bavcic and then Taylor...Why not just hold onto the cash and the rights to Bavcic?? Is the plan to call up Pierre Jackson now? I thought Jackson didn't want to play there right from the beginning and was given permission to explore a trade on his own behalf?? Bizarre. I must be missing something...What the hell's going on over there?
Jackson, meanwhile, continues to kill it in the DL -- 44 pts yesterday. Not saying he goes for 40 every night in the pros but this is one exciting, talented player. 100% NBA-caliber in some capacity...A guy with great speed, athleticism (check out the one play below where he breaks down his man with such ease up high, drives middle and throws down the hammer with defenders nearby, 1:43-1:50 mark) that can go get his own shot off however/whenever he wants and he's always been a very good passer with excellent court vision going back to Baylor...Put a proposal together and get this guy in a Knicks uniform already! What the hell are they waiting for?!? This guys been available for several weeks now...There's no room for him to play and thrive on that Pelican roster with the guards already ahead of him -- Jackson sensed this right away which is why he chose France before settling for a DL assignment -- now he's asked for a trade recently. He wants out of N.O. and the Pelicans act like they could care less...If N.O. wanted him on the team, he would've been called up already...At least lemme hear that we spoke to the Pelicans about this guy. New Orleans needlessly lost cash in this Taylor trade -- I'd have no problem replenishing that for them as well as offering up Toure Murry and a future 2nd rounder. Chandler in a bigger deal (maybe for Tyreke Evans like Briggs discussed) and even Cole Aldrich and Jeremy Tyler -- all on the table. Considering our sorry state of affairs (esp. with regard to our piss poor guard play), you have a chance to steal a talented young dynamo of a PG like this guy, you pursue it. Case closed...I can't believe we haven't jumped all over this already...I mean this kid could be our starting PG for years to come..Heck, he could be a star...2 or 3 year guaranteed deal to bridge the gap right to his early Bird or full Bird rights the moment we acquire him..Get this done!
