At any point. This has to be a realistic understanding coming into the season. What we have gotten from both has exceeded expectations but also brings back up the fragility and age factor of this team. Also we made a cognizant decision to go with Chris Smith over diogu which was management's error.

Metta has also given us less than hoped.

Amare was trending very nice, getting stronger.

Having older injury riddled veterans and no assets and flexibility is a deadly combination

I think that situation was created by cap issues. With only vet mini deals available you have to wait and hope to sign the guys that should have the biggest impact on a team. Beno, and KMart were good value signings. As were Pablo and Metta. The problem is the Knicks have to rely on these guys because Tyson and Felton consistently have health issues for at least 1/4 of the season.

I'd have to say, in hindsight, the decision was to keep Jeremy Tyler and Cole Aldrich (Chris Smith was just keeping Tyler's seat warm) over Chris Smith. I don't really have any problems with those decisions. We thought Metta was going to be able to contribute something and I didn't see the need for another veteran forward at the time.
