Also Tyson and anyone else for cap relief, picks and flexibility?

Or max out Melo and hope we attrack 1 other free agent. Remember we don't have the assets for a sign and trade this time.

Can you sign a valuable player outright without taking a chance on a player with a history if severe injuries or a castoff?

KG, Allen, gasol, Melo were all sign and trade deals. Guys like Amare and Boozer are signed outright because other teams were not interested in overpaying.

Will guys like Alridge and love sign here?

So again I ask blow it up or stay on course?

Blow it up
Stay on course let guys come off and only keep Melo

Blow it up this roster has no chance of ever winning. If they really can get Blake for melo make the trade then flip Blake Griffin in the offseason for a 2014 Lottery pick and a young player. There are multiple small market teams willing to part with a lottery pick to get a seat filler like Griffin

You have to trade them for as many picks and/or players early on their rookie contracts as possible IMO. Tyson looks like he can play at 10/10 or 12/10 level, which hopefully will bring his value up. If you can get an expiring contract for any of our other vets on long-term deals, you have to do that too. If we're gonna be in the bottom 10, as might as well do it while building a strong future.

Im not sure there is max money waiting for him if he opts out.

He might not opt out and I think we should just extend him to age 33.

The market will dictate what he does. Is it money? is it winning? Is it wanting to play in Los Angeles and be with his wife?

Clippers are not trade Blake for Melo for the simple fact that he is younger and cheaper

It's going to have to be for picks and expiring contracts which if fine with me albeit it would be nice to have an asset like Blake in the midst of the rebuilding process

Yeah I have no problem with that but who is giving us a lottery pick for Melo as a rental? The Clippers are a team that Melo would almost certainly resign with but your right they would be crazy to trade us Blake without a guaranteed extension.

I don't think many teams will give up much for Melo because he is a 1year 1/2 year rental
GM's will lowball Knicks and after watching D12 leave Lakers for NOTHING, I don't see why any GM would make a huge trade for Melo (at least if he forgoes his ability to OPT out)
In addition, GM's know that Melo isn't worth the contract that he wants, especially at his age and deficiencies
With 2015 around the corner, many teams would rather use that cap space elsewhere than pay Melo whatever he thinks he is worth

GM's build for the present and future and Melo just isn't as good as he thinks he is, he is a very good scorer but he needs much talent around him
CA needs to understand he is NOT bigger than the game itself, a reason why The Pacer's are my favorite to win the East in this year
They have talent on both OFF and DEF but they all sacrifice and take turns working ToGETHER, making them a perfect fit, mixed with size, length, athleticism, talent, youth and veteran exp to go with their competitiveness

Yes, I think we should trade Chandler, Melo, and whoever, can yield us back any picks, and shorter salaries
I wouldn't trade JR Smith now because his value is low and I believe it can grow back

Problem is we have too many NEGATIVE value contracts and we have traded already way too many future picks to build a team the traditional way

Also do we really want to pair Melo up with another big who like Amare clogs the lane for Melo instead of a pg?

If we keep Melo where are we getting that PG? Not injured ones like rondo and rose

Rondo would be 2 years removed from his ACL tear (his ONLY major injury) in 2015. Why not pursue him?

And if we are going to keep Melo, I really like the pairing of he and Marc Gasol in the post. If the Grizzlies continue to underachieve, I'd like for us to pursue him to see what the asking price would be.

If that time comes and rondo hasn't reinjured his knee or the other knee I would consider it despite the fact that he can be a bad teammate

Have to wonder if Melo and LBJ somehow end up together. Some in the media saw this message from LBJ as an indication he maybe leaving Miami.
To play with U and to win championships and I can’t thank u enough for the sacrifice you’ve made since I arrived homie! No matter what happens in the future we stuck together like brothers for life.

I say stay the course simply because I know that the team is only looking at the immediate future that is playoffs this season. I know and most know the Knicks management to be incompetent. You know they get hosed in most deals and this time it will be no different. They will trade Melo and Chandler to get back players that will not be building blocks picks have never been on the Knicks agenda so you can forget picks.

This evaluation team that Dolan hired is probably going to over think everything and probably fearing loss of business make deal to make deals and safe deals. Picks at this point become risky and they play it safe by trading for know players. So when it is all said and done best to ride this wave of losing replace what the Knicks have through free agency after what the currently have are expired deals.

I wonder. LeBron has always talked about wanting to be a billionaire and we have the most lucrative market in the world. But is the money worth dealing with our incompetence?

I was thinking they end up in LA. I don't even think its possible but it has been speculated in the media

That would suck, horribly. I don't even know how we'd recover.

100% trade him if he doesn't sign. If he indicates he's staying the keep him. Guy is a stud in his prime. Building around him is a safer bet then a tear down rebuild.

Bron and Melo would have to sign for 12 mil a piece.....dont forget Kobe signed for 24 per season.

Do you trade Melo before deadline while his value is high?
