This guy is rated the 3rd highest prospect in the dl and isn't the property of an nba team.

Dewayne Dedmon Shows Off Incredible Hops: "I Just Cleaned House"

Santa Cruz center Dewayne Dedmon is blessed with the rare combination of size and athleticism -- not to mention youth and potential at 24 years old with just six years of organized basketball experience -- so he shouldn't be waiting long for another NBA team to come calling. While he didn't post his usual monster numbers on Monday, he did deliver two jaw-dropping highlights and two money quotes to match. Here's the 7-footer's chase-down block and putback dunk:

And here's him talking about his overall development this season and cracking a smile about those plays -- "I saw he was going up soft so I just cleaned house with that one," he said of the block, and on the dunk: "Nobody boxed me out so that was all mine; I had to eat that one up."

I mentioned this guy on the "Would you guys sign Turkoglu and drop Beno" thread about a week ago. Definitely an intriguing young big man. He's currently averaging about 16 & 15 with 2.4 blks per game in the DL. 7' 240, long, athletic & agile, he can operate in the post and has a decent looking jumper from mid-range. Above-average shot-blocker which is another plus. Hey, why not man.

I'm actually a Cole Aldrich guy, going back to Kansas. I think it's insane that this guy hasn't seen any court time, esp. while Chandler and/or Martin were out. I think he could help us. Having said that -- I think this guy Dedmon might have a higher ceiling. It'd be great to flip Aldrich, Murry or both/cash/a future 2nd rounder to New Orleans for Pierre Jackson --- and I wouldn't stop there:

Beno Udrih - trade for a 2nd rounder, buy out or cut.
Metta World Peace - trade for a 2nd rounder or buy out.
Keynon Martin - trade for a 2nd rounder, buy out or cut.
Pablo Prigioni - trade for a 2nd rounder or orchestrate a buy out (2 yrs left on his deal after this year).
Cut either Aldrich or Murry (if both don't wind up going in the Pierre Jackson deal).

Replace the above 5 with the following younger/better/more exciting players:

PG Kalin Lucas
SG DeQuan Jones or BJ Young
SF Devin Ebanks
PF Richard Howell (or Robert Covington/Ike Diogu)
C Dewayne Dedmon

I've been hearing names like Stephen Jackson, Hedo Turkoglu, Andrew Bynum, Shawne Williams...NO THANKS. Want no part of any of these guys. We're not winning a championship this year regardless of what we do. Why waste our time on washed up players who aren't really helping us? OK, Martin to his credit is playing well but again, what's the point in ushering this older vet out there and overusing him to the point where he breaks down again 5 games from now? Why not infuse some youth into the equation, actually play these guys and evaluate the situation for the next 60-someodd games?

• Sit Felton. Evaluate if a Pierre Jackson/Kalin Lucas PG duo is good enough for the NBA level and to move forward with (I believe so -- more than good enough. Jackson's got lead guard written all over him and I think this kid Lucas could be a very capable backup).

• Sit JR Smith. Evaluate if the ultra-athletic, ever-improving DeQuan Jones can contribute at the NBA level (he can -- already showed it with Orlando).

• Evaluate Devin Ebanks -- see if he's a contributor at the NBA level (already proven with the Lakers) and see if he's a suitable backup/possibly successor for Melo. Possibly a guy we could play alongside Melo for more offense.

• Evaluate if BJ Young could be an instant offense type off the bench (something more steady and efficient than JR Smith).

• Evaluate if Rich Howell could remain a double-digit rebounder at this level and contribute some offense (I think he could---he's done it in college at NC State and now at the DL level).

• Evaluate Dewayne Dedmon and see if he's worth signing long-term (I think he would be).

• Look for trades for expiring contracts and 2nd round picks for Felton and Smith. We make a major shakeup like this for youth, I wouldn't need or want either player moving forward.

This is what I'd LOVE to see right now. Something like this...It's unorthodox and downright brazen...LOL - they would never do this however. First off they don't have a good enough GM that has the vision to pull off this type of shakeup and then they don't have the proper coach in place to teach young players. Instead, the Knicks will argue that the East is wide open, we're playing better now and we're good enough to make the playoffs as is. Blah-blah-blah...I'm not convinced staying the course here is wise. We've won 3 out of the last 4 and have generally looked a lot better (although last night we were damn lucky--we almost fell apart again at home against a poor team) but come on -- this group is so far from a championship, it's not even funny. So what's the point in keeping guys like Udrih, MWP, K-Mart, Prigs, Aldrich if I could swap in a better/more promising 7 footer, etc.??? I'd start rebuilding right now with these moves. We make these moves -- I GUARANTEE a couple of things: (1) we'd be a heck of a lot more exciting to watch game in/game out; (2) we'd actually have a BETTER chance to make the playoffs adding these young, intriguing replacement players; and (3) I guarantee we'd come up with at least 3 keeper rotation players for the future with all these moves, probably more.. Then we see how guys like Melo and Chandler mesh with these players. I betcha they'd really take to these changes and start to play reinvigorated. The Garden crowd would LOVE these young cats too btw. Everyone would see excitement and the beginnings of a real plan in place...A touch of youth could go a long way here, I'm telling you.

Ebanks, Jackson and Dedmon are the three highest rated prospects in the dleague. All three are very intriguing. It would be nice to get one of these guys. All three would be brazen but there is room on the roster to make moves and add youngsters without disrupting the core group.

That is what is great about the15 man roster versus the 12 man roster. Teams can have 4 or 5 guys they are developing while still having a vet team. It would be the opposite of last year.

I think I saw all six minutes of his time playing for GS earlier this year. Yup, in those few minutes, he looked pretty good. I was surprised that GS cut him and more surprised they didn't bring him back after O'Neal when down. However . . . he's very raw, so raw that will probably take a half-year of playing time to figure out if he's worth a real contract. I'm not sure what role he might play with the current Knicks but, yes, I'd say he's worth auditioning. One thing that was nice about his few minutes at GS was he seemed interested in defense and had the basic skills to protect the basket.
