I'm sorry but can someone explain this to me? Out of a time out, the play call is for everyone to space out, give Melo the ball, and just let him do his thing. What? What? What? How is this justifiable. Not only is it iso-Melo. It is blatant iso-Melo. I'm sorry someone smarter than me explain this.

Sometimes I think Melo calls it himself but with the amount of times that it happens over and over again I don't know what to think anymore
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

It doesn't bother you this game was close? I went to the game and I'm happy we won, but we pull this crap against a good team we will lose every time. You think if things unfold this way against the Heat on Thursday we'll win? No chance

It's not just about a win or loss in this case. THIS IS HOW WE LOST SO MANY GAMES! The fact that this team doesn't always play smart BB is a real problem. The one man who is there to make sure that this team can more consistently execute great offense, is Woodson. If this was the only time this ever happened then sure we could look at the players, but DAMN IT, this has happened so much over the course of Woodson's tenure that it's not acceptable to just pass it off on the players. Where is the outrage on his part when they fail to do what he asks?

Exactly how can the Knicks hope to beat good teams consistently if they keep making the same mistakes and that includes the coach? We saw this team lose games down the stretch over and over again with the same kinds of dumb plays or lack of plays we saw tonight. This time we won cuz the other team had even more dumb plays. That isn't acceptable. It's clear that this team isn't so bad that they can't win games if they execute at a high level and play smart BB.

Teaching a team how to play smart situational BB is the COACH'S JOB!!! He's the one that has the most knowledge and has to make it clear what he wants the team to do in certain situations. That's what practice is for. When a team makes the same mistakes over and over that isn't JUST on the players. That's also on the coach. This is why we give praise to certain coaches in this league that have done a great job of preparing his players for every eventuality.

I've come to the conclusion, the team plays at the end of games like their coaches personality.

If Woody has fear in his voice or in decision in the huddle, his teams plays that way. If Woody is nervous the team plays nervous.
IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE !

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Wait, we called a play for one of the games top scorers to do his thing?

Did we make the shot? Win the game? Did we not win to pretty enough? Did we put a voice evaluator to measure the stress level in his voice to determine if he was breast fed enough as a child?

In a stressful situation do you play to your strengths or weaknesses? If the Iso is effectively doubled, is there an open man? And can that man hit the shot? Are we not trying to woo melo to stay? Won't CAA call him after the game and tell him some other teams won't let him do that and knicks will?

You do know the Knicks are in the bottom of the league in points per ISO right? Do you also know we lead the league in ISO attempts? Does this sound like winning basketball to you?

I don't have to go beyond our record to see that. You have a "closer" type player. Its what you do. I don't like our offense or our roster make up but thats an old story. I even prefer MDA and his movement offense.

But, this is now and with a fragile Shump, the fool JR, and slow Beno I might want to think my odds are pretty good that Melo might get you pts and he might be able to move the ball if he can't break the double.

Then we mostly are in agreement. I have no problem going to melo at the end of the games. I just rather do it by him getting the shot off passes and ball movement. I totally agree with you that MDA's system is perfect for melo. The problem is Melo is like woodson and is blind to the low success rate of ISO Melo. Melo hates MDA's system on the Knicks but loves it in the Olympics.

Melo, like Ewing before him will desire a coach and a system that caters to his strength. If you go in this direction and get hit with injuries and mental break downs then this is how you roll with what you got.

Thinking the rookies in prime time will come up big, or our mentally challanged former 6th man of the year is just available at the moment.

They are going with what they got.

Melo doesn't know his strengths though. When the ball is moving and he gets good looks he is absolute money like in the Olympics. He makes things harder for himself than they need to be.
